Because of the resistance used in both directions, you'll be working out both your abdominal muscle and your lower back muscles, providing increased strength training for both muscle groups at the same time. Coach Wendy^ from Curves Canberra, Australia, shares her journey to recovery after hip replacement surgery.

Helping women live their best lives possible is what Curves is all about. But when injury, wear and tear, or overuse take a toll on our bodies, we know that sometimes surgery is necessary to reduce pain and provide a better quality of life.

The strength training that our workouts offer may help prepare a woman physically so she could have a faster and easier recovery. Some physical therapists refer to this as "Pre-hab". For example, someone undergoing knee surgery might benefit from strengthening the muscles around their knee in the months leading up to surgery.

It's also important to strengthen other parts of your body that you may need to rely on post-surgery, like your core and arms. Strengthening triceps (the muscles on the back of your arms) can help you better use crutches, stand up from a seated position, or get out of bed.*

Why stretch? Stretching helps increase range of motion, improve circulation, benefits improved posture, and increases flexibility. PLUS, stretching feels great!

The Outer Thigh Stretch focuses on some of the most overlooked muscles when stretching. Stretch to the point of tension and hold. Hold each stretch for at least 15 seconds. Breathe deeply. Avoid bouncing or excessive pulling.
