Following heavy rain and resulting water damage Sunday night, the Pender County Register of Deeds and Tax Office have relocated from the Howard Holly Building to the former Health Department building at 803 S. Walker Street in Burgaw.

E-recording, tax bill payments and appeals services remain available. Staff are working to make the new location fully operational, and residents needing in-person assistance are encouraged to call ahead before visiting.

Most services are expected to be fully restored by the end of the day Wednesday, July 15.

The County will assess the damage to the Howard Holly Building and determine the long-term location of both offices.

If you receive a letter like the one pictured offering “title monitoring” services and requesting payment, please know this correspondence is NOT from the Pender County Register of Deeds or any government agency.

You can obtain a copy of your deed directly from our office without paying a third-party company hundreds of dollars.

Please do not send money or provide personal information in response to these mailings without fully researching the company first.

If you have questions about your property records, need information about your deed, or would like assistance reviewing suspicious correspondence, please contact our office. We are here to help and serve as your trusted local resource.

Pender County offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, due to winter weather.

‼Residents are urged to stay off the roads. Unless absolutely necessary. Limiting travel helps reduce the risk of accidents and allows emergency crews to respond more efficiently.
