Pender County Utilities’ 2025 Annual Water Quality Report is now available. The report provides an overview of the county’s drinking water sources, routine testing, water quality results and ongoing efforts to provide customers with safe and dependable drinking water.

Pender County Utilities continues to monitor more than 150 contaminants in accordance with state and federal requirements and remains committed to transparency, water quality and customer service.

💧 Water Quality Report Update

Pender County Utilities water customers recently received letters regarding the annual Water Quality Report.

PCU is making one update to the report at the request of NC DEQ. The updated report will be posted back on the county website by Monday, June 1, at lunch.

🚰Sample results have come back with satisfactory results. The precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted.

Update- Crews have replaced 10 feet of a 12-inch water main. Water service is being restored, and system flushing is currently in progress.

A precautionary bacteriological sample will be collected, and customers in the affected area along Highway 117 between Highway 210 and Rocky Point School Road will remain under a precautionary boil water advisory until satisfactory sample results are received.


Pender County Utilities crews are responding to a 12-inch water main break at the intersection of Highway 117 and Highway 210.

NC 811 utility locates are currently being completed, and excavation work will begin once the locate ticket is cleared.

To complete repairs, water service will be shut off along Highway 117 South between Highway 210 and Rocky Point School Road. Repairs are expected to take approximately 6–8 hours.

About 20 customers will be affected by the outage.

Residents and businesses in the area should prepare for temporary water service interruptions while repairs are underway.

PCU participated in the Workforce Readiness Conference at Cape Fear Community College yesterday. We interacted with students and promoted jobs within the water industry, the hiring process, how to obtain certifications, and so much more about working in the water industry.

Jared Permenter (Centralized Maintenance Manager) joined us and spoke with several students one-on-one about our open maintenance technician position.

It was a great day reaching out to our future workforce.

Pender County Utilities was proud to take part in Career Day at Heide Trask High School today.

We had the opportunity to connect with students in the gym, sharing information about careers in the utilities field and walking through the North Carolina operator certification process.

Outside, our field and maintenance teams brought the experience to life in the parking lot, showcasing the equipment and trucks used every day to serve our community.

🚰 Sample results have returned with satisfactory results from the shut down on Wednesday 4/22/2026 on Sloop Point Loop Road. The precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted.

Work has been completed, water has been restored and flushing is in progress. Customers on Sloop Point Loop Road between Highway 17 and Country Club Drive, as well as customers on Mallard Bay Road will be under a precautionary boil water advisory until satisfactory sample results return.

‼️Pender County Utilities will be conducting a scheduled water shutdown on Wednesday night, April 22, beginning at 9:00 PM to facilitate water line tie-ins for Renovation Church off Sloop Point Loop Road.

‼️Approximately 14 customers located on Sloop Point Loop Road between Highway 17 and Country Club Drive may experience low to no water pressure for an estimated 4 to 6 hours during the repair work.

Once the work is complete, utility crews will flush the affected water lines and collect precautionary bacteriological samples.

Customers on Sloop Point Loop Road between Highway 17 and Country Club Drive will be under a precautionary boil water advisory until satisfactory sample results are received.

Lower Cape Fear Water & Sewer Authority (LCFWASA) has completed a parallel raw water pipeline that increases the reliability of the regional water supply serving Pender County, Brunswick County, and the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA).

The project included a key phase with a 400-foot crossing beneath the Cape Fear River. The Pender County portion of the pipeline was completed and placed into service today.

Project partners marked the milestone with a Golden Bolt Ceremony recognizing completion of the Pender County segment.

🚰 Update: The bacteriological sample from the main line leak on Acme Way has returned with satisfactory results. The precautionary boil water advisory is rescinded for customers on Acme Way.

Update: Crews have replaced a leaking 12-inch fitting at the end of Acme Way. Water is being restored and flushing is in progress. As a precaution a bacteriological sample will be taken once the lines are flushed. There will be a precautionary boil water advisory in place for the 2 customers on Acme Way until satisfactory results return.

Crews are on site of a water main leak on Acme Way in the Pender Commerce Park. Excavation is underway, water will be turned of for 4 to 6 hours to make repairs to the line. 2 commercial customers will be affected by this outage.

PCU participated in the 5th Grade Career Fair at Masonboro Elementary School The theme was Passport to Possibilities. 🌟

Approximately 430 students from seven schools attended the event, where they learned about careers in public utilities and how clean, reliable water services support our community every day. 💧
