South King Council of Human Services Enhancing the quality, availability and accessibility of human services in South King County

At SKCHS, we know that South King County is a great place to work, play and live; we are home to a rich diversity of people who share strong traditions and solid values. However, while South King County has the largest share of the county’s population and families, it also has a disproportionately high number of families living near—or below—poverty level. SKCHS is a membership organization consis

ting of nonprofit agencies, community leaders and concerned residents who work to support one another cooperatively in building a strong safety net of health, housing and human services in South County. Our members collaborate on important projects and coordinate strategies for addressing racism and poverty in our area. What We Do
SKCHS hosts monthly gatherings where our members and allies teach each other about emerging issues. We also provide technical support to agencies through our Capacity Building Project and we bring the human services community together for annual events and awards. Most of all, we are committed to making sure that there are effective and efficient services available to people in need within our communities.

For our artist friends in SKC!

"Sound Transit released a call to expand their artist roster. Being accepted to the roster will "prequalify" artists for a wide variety of temporary and permanent art projects all over the region. We are trying to get the word out ASAP to visual artists and get a great pool of artists to work in Southwest King County!

To encourage a diverse pool of applicants, lower the entry barriers for emerging artists, and provide opportunities for artists from under-represented populations, Sound Transit is committed to making this a flexible application process. If folks need additional support to apply (this could mean assistance with translation and interpretation, alternative forms of documentation, etc.), they can reach out to me ([email protected]) and Ashley Long at Sound Transit ([email protected], on the cc) - and we can figure out how best to accommodate, depending on what is needed."

The Sound Transit Art Program is seeking artists to produce permanent and temporary public art in a wide range of styles, scales, and perspectives.
