REMINDER: Fairfax County Public Library branches and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. Regular branch hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Take a peek into the fun and exciting happenings at some of our branches in our series Scenes from Between the Shelves! This week's scenes feature:

- Welcome back to school! Sherwood Regional Library's student visitors got ready for the first day of school by designing and decorating their own pencil pouch.
- George Mason Regional Library's popular book journaling workshop invited adults to get creative by paper-crafting journals to track their reading.
- These tea tins have a new life as vases for beautiful flower arrangements at Chantilly Regional Library.
- Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library hosted a pipe cleaner flower making program with beautiful long-lasting results! (2 photos)
- It's an afternoon full of giggles and puppets at Great Falls Library as young visitors play with the branch's renewed puppet theatre.
- Herndon Fortnightly Library's six-word story wall display was such a success that Kings Park Library loaned them their Civics Lab listening station materials to keep the conversation going. Dranesville District Supervisor Jimmy Bierman and Town of Herndon Government Mayor Keven LeBlanc stopped by to listen. (2 photos)
- It's dino vs. dino - Tyrannosaurus Rex is on track for total dinosaur domination at Richard Byrd Library.

Fairfax County Public Library's partnership with local PBS member station WETA provides easy access to video streaming services for FCPL’s visitors, customers and cardholders. While most of the content available on WETA+ is free, some premium programming, such as select Masterpiece shows, do require a paid PBS Passport membership.

During the month of August, FCPL is hosting a quarterly drawing to distribute 75 free WETA memberships with a one-year PBS Passport benefit to the Library’s cardholders and supporters.

- Assistant Circulation Manager at Kingstowne Regional Library
- Library Aide (two open positions) at Pohick Regional and Reston Regional libraries

⚠️ Attention Sherwood Regional Library Visitors ⚠️

From Thursday, August 27 through Monday, August 31, Sherwood Regional Library's parking lot will be repaved. During this time, portions of the parking lot will be unavailable and parking will be limited.

Additional parking can be found:
- on Sherwood Hall Lane
- at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center (across Parker's Lane)
- at Whitman Middle School (evenings and Sunday only)
