GROW (Global Resiliency Outreach Work)

GROW (Global Resiliency Outreach Work) GROW provides innovative programs to at risk youth that foster emotional resiliency and broaden life

How it works

We conduct ongoing (process) groups to provide a safe place for students to air grievances, learn to accept and provide support and develop life long tools to resolve conflict, manage emotions and clear the way to optimize performance (in and out of the classroom) and more importantly, live a fulfilling life.

“ I realized that everyone struggles in life, just like me.......you’ve he

lped me overcome my fears and realize the truth about my life and me.”
-7th grader

We also partner with schools to tailor individualized enrichment programs to address specific issues (i.e. violence, lack of parental involvement, lack of budget for basic supplies, etc). These programs may take the form of a dance club, outdoor education, a drama club, a music program. They are designed to offer kids another venue for inclusion in a tight knit community, and strengthen confidence, communication skills, all critical building blocks in fostering resiliency in kids.

Incredible day at Franklin and Marshall today. In awe of their commitment to diversity, supporting and challenging our kids in a way that inspires self reflection as well as academic excellence. Excited at what the future holds with a phenomenal partner like them.

Great day planned- heading to Franklin and Marshall's campus to meet with their president, Dan Porterfield to discuss their diversity and inclusion efforts. AND get to meet some exceptional up and coming urban High School kids from around the country...exciting!

Metting with St Ignatius's MAGIS group tomorrow- a wonderful diversity outreach program that assists inner city middle school kids to prepare for and secure scholarships to San Francisco's elite private high schools. I have faith that good things will follow.

Summer break can be a dangerous time for some of our urban youth. Please think about reaching out and sponsoring a summer camp stint or mentor one of our youngsters.
