🇫🇯 Bula and welcome to Did You Know Sunday!

Narendra Narayan is a successful businessman, but what makes us especially proud is his generous Fijian spirit of soli, sharing what you have and lifting others along the way.

Both here in the United States and back home in Fiji, Narendra has quietly supported causes close to his heart, including sports, golf, healthcare and scholarships. His giving is thoughtful and often done without seeking recognition.

We may come from a small island nation, but we can make a big difference wherever we go. As we build our businesses and create wealth, may we always remember where we came from and help elevate others with us.

Vinaka vakalevu, Narendra, for leading by example and carrying the spirit of Fiji wherever you go. 🇫🇯

Fiji Trade Commission North America in partnership with the US Fiji Chamber of Commerce hosted a first of many planned Talanoa sessions titled "Fiji & Pacific Diaspora Business Leaders Talanoa" at the Fiji Trade Commission Office in Burlingame on Wednesday evening.

As part of this initiative, the Fiji Trade Commission North America Office and the US Fiji Chamber of Commerce plan to hold similar Talanoa sessions in the coming months in various city and locations around the Bay Area, and in California as a start.

The event brought together diaspora leaders from different professional backgrounds including accounting firms, senior care business, finance and investment, real estate, retail, wholesale, ICT sector, businessmen, leaders of Chambers of Commerce in the Bay Area, charitable organisations, and City leaders.

Participants enjoyed networking, friendship, sharing their stories, discussing business ideas, and ways to help our young diaspora, and giving back to our homeland.

This Talanoa event also provided the Trade Commission Team an opportunity to update guests on business and trade opportunities in Fiji and upcoming trade and investment missions and events this financial year that the Office is planning.

If you are keen to just talanoa with your fellow countrymen with a business and growth focus, reach out, and follow us and the US Fiji Chamber of Commerce for updates on future sessions of the Talanoa.

Stay tuned for our next event in Santa Rosa.

Fijians making history in every field. We are proud of you Mayor Pranita Venkatesh!

DID YOU KNOW? Sunday 🇫🇯

A Fiji-born woman is making history in California.

Pranita Venkatesh is serving as Mayor of San Carlos, California, becoming the first Fiji-born mayor of the city.

From our islands to communities around the world, Fijians are leading, building businesses, serving their communities and creating opportunities for the next generation.

It’s that Bula energy we carry wherever we go: warmth, resilience, community and the belief that we can make a difference.

Pranita’s achievement is a proud moment for the Fiji diaspora, but it also sends an important message:

We belong at every table.

So dream bigger. Step forward. Lead. Run for office. Start the business. Take the seat at the table. And when you get there, bring someone else with you.

We may come from a small island nation, but there is nothing small about what Fijians can accomplish around the world.

Bula spirit. Global impact. 🇫🇯🌎

Did You Know? Sunday 🇫🇯

Have you been to Fiji? Or are you lucky enough to call Fiji home? 🇫🇯

Halle Berry recently celebrated her 60th birthday in Fiji and called Fijians “the happiest people on Earth.” Those of us who know Fiji understand exactly what she means.

Yes, the islands are beautiful. But it’s the people, the laughter, the hospitality and that unmistakable Bula spirit that stay with you.

So on this Sunday, we want to hear from you!

Are you from Fiji? Have you visited? What town, village, island or special place holds your favorite Fiji memory? Give it a shout-out in the comments! 🌺

And if Fiji is still on your bucket list, check out our friends at Fiji Airways. Maybe it’s time to stop dreaming and go experience the Bula spirit for yourself. ✈️🇫🇯

The Fiji Trade Commission North America team was delighted to participate in the Fiji Canada Expo 2026 at Newton Athletic Park, Surrey, British Columbia.

Over the two-day event, our team had the opportunity to engage with members of the Fijian diaspora, entrepreneurs, business owners, and community stakeholders, providing information and support on trade and investment opportunities, export and market enquiries, HFC Bank account applications, and other diaspora-related services.

We are encouraged by the strong interest shown in strengthening economic and community connections with Fiji and are grateful for the many meaningful conversations and new relationships established throughout the Expo.

A sincere thank you to the organizers, partners, volunteers, exhibitors, and everyone who visited our booth and took the time to connect with our team. Events such as these play an important role in fostering stronger links between Fiji and the Fijian community in Canada.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting opportunities that contribute to Fiji’s growth and development.
