Thank you to our partners at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley for calling attention to the impact of federal cuts to SNAP (aka CalFresh) funding. CALL Primrose continues to work to provide free, healthy groceries to those in need.

“The cuts to SNAP, or what we call CalFresh here locally, are the deepest in the program’s history. These massive reductions are going to push more of our neighbors into crisis, and all of the food banks in the nation can’t fill that gap.”
That was the message from our CEO, Leslie Bacho, at the 2025 Silicon Valley Pain Index press conference — a powerful reminder that behind the region’s wealth and innovation, staggering inequality persists.
“Still, 60 percent [of clients] couldn't meet their basic monthly expenses. And that is because for so many folks — even if you're working, maybe working two jobs, but they're low-wage jobs — you just aren't making enough to be able to still pay your rent, pay your utility bills and afford food.”
This is the daily reality for 1 in 6 people in our community who rely on Second Harvest for food.
Here’s what our latest client survey revealed:
🥪 Nearly 90% of parents who responded worry they won’t have enough nutritious food for their kids.
👪 Almost two-thirds of the households we serve include someone who is working — and still, nearly 60% can’t cover basic monthly expenses.
🏡 More than half are worried about being able to pay next month’s rent or mortgage.
