The Landfill be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday. We will be open normal hours Saturday 8-11:30.

Due to the high winds and blowing dust the landfill will be closing at 11. We will resume normal operations tomorrow at 8 am.

Kit Carson County is hiring for a full time Landfill Employee. Job responsibilities include operating and maintain general maintenance of equipment, including but not limited to heavy machinery, customer service, and scale system operation.
Salary $15.85 - $21.63 per hour. Benefits include Health, Vision, Dental, Life insurance, and a 3% match for retirement. KCC requires passing a background check and drug/alcohol testing. We didn’t get quite that high…however it’s very doubtful the landfill will be open long today so keep an eye here for closure updates.
