Click It or Ticket is a nationwide campaign geared toward the fact that SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES! No matter what type of vehicle you drive, one of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up.

The Coffey County Sheriff's Office participated the Click It or Ticket campaign that ran May 17-June 1, 2026. The statistics from Coffey County are in! A HUGE shout out to our five deputies who made the commitment to educate drivers on vehicle safety through 90 hours of dedicated patrolling and 203 traffic stops.

"Buckle yourself in, so they don't have to. Click it. Don't risk it."

Round 2! Bikers who are riding to represent the Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics were escorted through Coffey County via Old Highway 50 on their way to Lyon County this afternoon after a quick stop for lunch provided by our office at Beto Junction!

It's not easy riding that distance in this muggy heat, but they've done it with grace in order to support Special Olympics athletes in our region as they head to Wichita for the Summer Games this weekend! Way to go, bikers!

Thank you to all of the businesses and individuals who took time to cheer on the Special Olympics athletes as they made the trek with the Flame of Hope from Neosho to Cross Street through Burlington today!

We are incredibly proud of our local Special Olympics athletes and wish them the best of luck this weekend at the 2026 Summer Games in Wichita!

Stay tuned for more as our Sheriff, Undersheriff, and deputies journeyed up to Beto Junction after this mornings Mini Torch Walk to meet the bikers carrying the Flame of Hope through the North end of the county on their way to Lyon County!

Heads up Burlington!! Tomorrow (June 3rd) at 10AM local Special Olympics athletes will be carrying the FLAME OF HOPE torch through Burlington as a prelude to the Summer Olympic games happening this coming weekend in Wichita! We encourage everyone to take a moment to step outside and cheer on the athletes as they walk by tomorrow!

The route will start at the Coffey County Law Enforcement Center at 10AM. The group will walk up Neosho Street toward 3rd Street, then take 3rd Street North toward Hudson, then Hudson back toward Highway 75. Eventually ending near City Hall or possibly DQ (however far the athletes are able to carry the torch)

Shout out to Jered Schulte for organizing the walk tomorrow! We're excited to spend time cheering on the Special Olympics athletes who are participating through our local programs! COF Training Services, Inc. Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

An important update to Offender Registration Fees beginning July 1, 2026.

Did you know? The KBI Offender Registration fee will increase from $20 (paid to the agency that you are required to register with) to $30. Twenty dollars of that will still remain with the registering agency. The $10 technology surcharge is mandated by state law and will be deposited into an Offender Registration Technology Fund to procure, maintain, and administer a new, centralized statewide offender registration system.

Reference Kansas Senate Bill 487 for more information.

We are so grateful to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the purpose of our freedom.

"Our flag doesn't fly because the wind moves it, but because of the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it."

The administrative offices of the Coffey County Law Enforcement Center will be closed in observance of Memorial Day tomorrow, Monday, May 25th. Rest assured that our deputies, detention officers, and dispatchers remain on duty 24/7/365 in service to Coffey County. Although, they would really love a (we don't say the Q word) holiday too! Celebrate safe, Coffey County!
