🧵Beginning Quilting Basic Blocks {Grades: 8 & Up}

Now that you know a little about quilting, do you wish you knew how to make different quilt blocks? Then this is the class for you! In this beginner-level class, sewers will learn some of the basics of quilting, simple quilt blocks, and how to make a simple quilt. You will learn how to read a pattern to make the blocks, to measure and cut fabric, pin fabric together, and then sew them to make the blocks, and how to make a fun design for your quilt top. At the end of this class, you will have the directions to 12 basic quilt blocks (one finished block of each basic block) and some design ideas so you can continue on your own. Blocks planned include half square and half rectangle blocks, 9-patch with variations, rail fence with variations, log cabin, flying geese, and simple heart. I will also have options for putting the quilt together if you choose for an extra cost.

For the first class, please bring a notebook and a pencil to take notes. We will discuss the other materials that you should bring to the second class. Sewing machines and other tools will be available in the classroom, but participants are welcome to bring their own machines if they would like.

Materials needed: 2 half yards of 100% cotton fabric that coordinate with each other and thread that matches your fabric or white thread.
