Please join us in congratulating FF Tristan Timmerman for completing the seven‑week Spring Fire Academy at the Illinois Fire Service Institute.

This achievement represents far more than classroom hours and training drills — it reflects Tristan’s dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering work ethic. The academy demands long days, physical and mental toughness, and a commitment to mastering the skills required to protect others. Tristan met every challenge head‑on and demonstrated the character and determination that define the fire service.

We are proud to welcome Tristan into our ranks and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our department and community.

Your Burlington Local 301 is proud to share details about an exciting upcoming fundraiser in partnership with our local Hy-Vee!
From now until the event, your local firefighters — alongside Hy-Vee — will be selling steak dinner tickets for just $15. A portion of each ticket sold will go directly toward supporting your Local 301 firefighters and the work we do within our community.
You might be asking, "What does our local union do?"
If you’ve seen our previous posts, you already know — Local 301 is more than just emergency response. We are committed to giving back and making a difference.
Here are just a few things we’re proud to do:
🔥 Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays – Each shift pools their own money to support local families in need during the holiday season.
🦺 Life Jacket Giveaways – We purchase and hand out properly fitting life jackets to kids in our community. With the Mississippi River at our doorstep, your child’s safety is always a top priority.
🚒 Make-A-Wish – We recently helped grant the wish of a local boy who dreamed of being a firefighter for a day. It was an unforgettable experience for all involved.
💪 MDA Fundraisers – We regularly raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a cause close to our hearts as firefighters are disproportionately affected by muscular dystrophy during and after their service.

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves —

🔥We are your Burlington Local 301 🔥
It’s been a while since we’ve been active here on Facebook, but we’re back and ready to keep you updated with news, events, community outreach, and more. We proudly serve Burlington, West Burlington, Des Moines County, and Henderson County.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen some changes. Some of our great members have moved on to other departments and careers, and most notably, we lost our brother Ky to occupational cancer. May he rest in peace—his memory remains a part of who we are.
As a union, giving back is at the core of what we do.

Each shift adopts a family during the holiday season, pooling together our own money to bring joy to a local household during Christmas. You may have also seen us out on the river—we purchase and hand out life jackets to children in need, ensuring they have gear that fits and keeps them safe.

Recently, we had the incredible honor of helping a Make-A-Wish child fulfill their dream of becoming a firefighter for a day—a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

We also regularly team up with local businesses for fundraisers, including a recent event with La Bohème. We support causes that matter, like Fill the Boot with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and other firefighter-related injury and illness organizations.

You may have noticed our refreshed logo—now featuring purple. That’s not just a new look. Purple represents our community, as it reflects the colors of our local school district. This small change is a big symbol of how connected we are to those we serve.

We’ve got a fundraiser coming up with Hy-Vee, and we’ll be sharing more details in the coming days and weeks—so stay tuned!

Thank you so much for your support! The Station 3 vote has passed! We appreciate everyone who showed up at the polls and we vow to continue to provide the best emergency services possible.

If you have supported this project with a yard sign, we remind you that we have 10 days following the election to remove the signs. Feel free to dispose of them yourself, otherwise a Local 301 representative will be out to collect the signs from your yard.
