June is Pet Preparedness Month! 🐶🐱

As temperatures rise, take a few extra steps to keep your furry family members safe and comfortable all summer long:
-Keep pets cool and hydrated with plenty of water and access to shade
-Watch for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting, drooling and lethargy
-Consider leaving pets at home when running errands on hot days
-Protect paws from hot pavement and check the temperature before walks

Some of you may have followed Twyla’s journey with us, and today we have the happiest update to share!

After spending 409 days in our care, Twyla has finally found her furever family. ❤️

Twyla has been in her new home for over two weeks now and is beginning to settle in and adjust to having a family all her own. Watching her get the chance to experience the love, comfort, and stability she has waited so long for is everything we hoped for when she first came through our doors.

While shelter life was a long chapter in Twyla’s story, it was never the ending. Her patience paid off, and the perfect family came along at just the right time.

We couldn’t be happier for Twyla and her new family. Thank you to everyone who shared her posts, cheered her on, and helped us keep hope alive throughout her journey. Stories like Twyla’s remind us that every animal deserves a chance and that sometimes the best things are worth waiting for.

Happy tails, Twyla! We know your best days are still ahead. 🐾❤️

Babs is a 1.5-year-old Boxer mix hoping to find her furever home today!

Several weeks ago, Babs was first spotted wandering through a neighborhood in Burlington. For about a week, she stayed in the area, carefully avoiding cars and keeping her distance from anyone who tried to help. Thankfully, our Animal Control officers were able to safely trap her and bring her to the shelter.

Since arriving, Babs has completely stolen our hearts. The scared, elusive dog we first met has turned out to be one of the sweetest dogs ever! She loves attention, enjoys spending time with people, and is always ready to share her goofy Boxer charm.

Babs has come such a long way, and now all she needs is a family to call her own. Could that be you?
