The members of BVFD extend our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, the crew of Rescue 2, and all members of the Boston Fire Department on the tragic line-of-duty death of Firefighter Robert “Bobby BK” Kilduff.

Every day—and especially during EMS Week, May 17–23, 2026—we recognize and thank the dedicated EMS professionals who protect the health and safety of our community. This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the teamwork and collaboration that takes place every day between EMS, 911 dispatchers, healthcare providers, public health, the fire service, law enforcement, and many others, all working in the best interest of our patients.

Thank you to our own BVFD EMS staff for providing compassionate, high-quality patient care to those in need. We also extend our appreciation to everyone who plays a role in Burlington’s emergency medical care system—from the 911 dispatchers providing critical pre-arrival medical instructions, to our hospital partners delivering definitive patient care.

As a proud Heart Safe Community, Burlington remains committed to strengthening the chain of survival and improving outcomes for those experiencing medical emergencies.

Together, we make a difference every day.

We are saddened to hear of the tragic event that occurred in Searsmont, Maine. The Burlington Volunteer Fire Department extends its sincerest condolences on the loss of Morrell FD Firefighter Andrew Cross who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. 🇺🇸

We also wish a full and healthy recovery to all those who were injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, fellow responders, and the entire community during this difficult time.

BURLINGTON, CT — Burlington Fire and EMS crews responded to a residential structure fire on Sherman Drive with mutual aid companies operating on a working fire assignment, including Tunxis Hose Company, Bristol Fire Department, Harwinton Fire and Canton Fire Department.

One occupant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation. Tragically, a dog inside the residence succumbed to smoke inhalation.

While crews were operating at the fire scene, additional Burlington Fire and EMS personnel, including the department’s second ambulance, responded with assistance from Harwinton Westside Volunteer Fire Department to a separate motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that struck a utility pole on South Main Street.
