Edwin Stickle for Congress Congressional Candidate and Family Physician

Thank you to all 7,692 of my supporters for your votes. Many of you know me personally from work or church. Many of you are my long-time patients. Some of you I met during the 4 months that Brit and I spent knocking on 10,000 doors in almost all the cities of the district. Thank you for talking to your friends and family and convincing them to vote for me. Over 6% of Skagit County voted for me and 2-3% of all the other counties. Your support warms my heart and brings a smile to my face. I said going into this that at the very least I hoped that my run for office would inspire someone else in the healthcare field, perhaps a doctor or nurse with more charisma than I would ever have to make a run for it in the future. I’m looking for someone who says, “If Stickle could do it then so could I.” We need someone with a focus on Medicare and other health care issues to run in every congressional election until those issues come around again as a priority for the voters.

Someone will break through eventually. It could be you. Let me know and I would support you. I end my campaign by mentioning 2 names that I hope you read and remember. Devon Kienzle is a family doctor in Darrington with charisma and personality and a big heart. If he ever decides to get into politics he would be a name to watch. Danny Martinez is a newly elected school board member in Lynden who I met on the campaign trail. He has charisma and enthusiasm and ability. Mark my words. You will hear his name again sometime in the next 20 years. He and his family are charismatic and enthusiastic. He clearly enjoys serving and has the gift of leadership.

Election update.
With the latest vote count report I am now over 7,000 total with 1,700 of those in Skagit county. That is close to the sense I was getting in the final weeks of the campaign. My friends and my coworkers and my patients who told me that they had voted for me made up those 1,700. The final vote tally next week will pad those numbers a bit more but getting to the general election would have required 40,000 votes in the primary this year. The MAGA candidate made it to the general election but that will be as far as he gets in this Democratic dominated district.

Thanks to the 3,924 people who voted for me. We didn’t come close but your support will be one of the highlights of my life.

And that’s all folks! Day 60 of doorbelling was in Burlington again. All the brochures are passed out. If we didn’t make it to your door it’s too bad(or if you don’t like interruptions then it’s good!) Now we wait for the votes to be dropped, hoping for our fair share. Just before writing this I checked the real time visitor count on my website and was surprised there were 13 people reading it right now. People really do wait until the last moment don’t they.

Day 59 was in Lynwood. Several supporters joined Kari, Brit and I as we waved at hundreds of buses and cars as they drove through a busy intersection on Highway 99. This was the penultimate day of the campaign.

A beautiful water feature on day 58 in Mount Vernon. The nicest comment I heard was, "I don't need your card, I already voted for you yesterday."

Day 57 was supporters day in our hometown of Burlington. Someone I’d never met before greeted me with, “I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I’ve already voted. The good news is that I voted for you.” Several supporters texted me pictures of their ballots. Dr. Barnes sent me this smiling picture.

This was day 56 of the front porch campaign in Anacortes. Many people had already voted. Saw one lady walking her ballot to the mailbox who said she had voted for me. I just need 35,000 of those!!

Campaigning for congress on day 55 in Sedro Woolley. This city is clearly my voter base. It’s where I lived for 6 years and worked for 21 years. We visited and discovered neighborhoods that we had never noticed before. My yard signs are all over the place. Thankyou Sedro Woolley!
