City of Burlington Police Department Receives CORE Accreditation

Today, the City of Burlington Police Department was formally recognized for achieving accreditation under the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) CORE program. This is the first time in our organization’s history to attain this level of accreditation.

This accreditation confirms the department meets or exceeds 66 essential law enforcement policy and practice standards. The department began working toward this achievement in October 2023, and each of the 66 CORE standards was independently reviewed and verified during the accreditation process.

The CORE standards verification process focuses on key areas of modern policing, including:
• Compliance with federal and state statutory mandates
• Requirements established through case law
• Issues related to high risk law enforcement operations, including use of force
• Sensitive areas involving community relations

Achieving this recognition underscores the department’s commitment to maintaining the highest level of professional service for residents and visitors.

Through the CORE accreditation process, the Burlington Police Department demonstrated compliance with nationally recognized best practices governing law enforcement administration and operations.

Feeling grateful for the generous donation of two AEDs to our agency thanks to the Burlington Freemasons. We could not do this work without the tremendous support from our community.

Thank you Experience Burlington WI for capturing the shot and promoting this effort.

Help us thank the Burlington Freemasons! It is their goal to help get AED’s and fire suppressors into EVERY squad so they are equipped with the tools they need to save lives in critical moments!

If you recall, at ExB’s Non-Profit Showcase event at Miller Motor Sales, the Freemasons donated two AED’s to Burlington WI Police Department, then presented a challenge to the community! If Burlington could raise $1,000 that weekend, the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation would donate $2,000 (making it $3,000 total) for two more AED’s!

This challenge was met thanks to the community, Faust Investments, and the matching donation from the Freemasons! Thank you to all involved in keeping our police & community safe! 🚔🚨👏🏼

🚨 Safety Reminder – Stay Safe, Burlington 🚨

With the flooding in our area, we want to remind residents to take the following precautions to keep yourselves and your families safe:

🌧 Stay Informed
Monitor local weather updates and emergency alerts. Be aware if you live in a flood-prone area and have a plan in place if conditions worsen.

🚗 Turn Around
Never drive through flooded roadways. Even a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle away, and roads may be washed out beneath the surface. Be on the look out for all road closures and barricades.

⚠️ Avoid Floodwaters and High Water Areas
Floodwater may contain debris. Do not walk or play in standing or moving water.

🤝 Check on Neighbors
Please look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbors who may need assistance during severe weather.

If you experience an emergency, call 911. For non-emergency concerns, contact the Racine County Communications Center at 262.886.2300.

Stay alert, stay informed, and stay safe.
