It's Duty Crew Tuesday!!

Tonight your Station 303 Volunteers participated in Driver Training on Engine 3032. We currently have two members who are working towards their training hours which are extensive and include review of the operations and equipment. Tonight's focus, in addition to driving, was practicing the serpentine movement, both forwards and backwards, while weaving through a series of cones.

Our two members did well and will continue training over the next several weeks!

Interested in joining ?? We would love to meet you! Come on down on a Tuesday night at 6p!!

Today, in remembrance of September 11, 2001 - The Fountain Woods Elementary School invited the First Responders and Military parents/family members of the students out to support and thank us for our dedication and service.

The children of our First Responders were recognized and able to take photos with their parents..

It was a lovely ceremony, remembering those that were lost and are still affected by the events of that tragic day. A wreath was placed at the school to honor them.

We Will Never Forget. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Relief members are always proud and thankful for the work, time, and dedication that our company board puts in to making the station run well and be a place we all love to come and volunteer at.

Here is our Company President, putting in some additional hours this weekend (of course he is πŸ˜€) while taking a little, well deserved, time off. πŸš’

Last night's duty crew participated in a class on Electric Car Fires over at Independent Fire Company No. 1 . This course provided education on the types of electric cars, the batteries and location of them, the hazards associated with responding to calls involving them, and how to safely mitigate/extinguish the fires via various methods. Safety is always a concern in firefighting and it's important to wear the appropriate gear because these batteries and fuel cells burn hotter and longer and have the chance of reigniting once the fire is put out. The class was taught by Anthony Correia and was interactive and educational! There was a great turnout by the volunteers in all 3 Township Stations.

If you are interested in joining please stop by, we run duty crews 3 nights a week and all three stations could use your help and support.

It's Duty Crew Tuesday !!

Tonight was a busy night with training, a couple calls and working on our two newest members 'rookie books.'

We practiced our two minute drills with our two new probationary members. What is a two minute drill? Great question! In the fire academy and fire service, we have to be able to get our gear and breathing apparatus on quickly and efficiently because seconds can make a difference. When our pagers go off for a call, we need to get to the station, get dressed and get on the truck asap so we can respond to the emergency. The team members practice different techniques for laying out their gear and practice multiple trials so the movement becomes muscle memory. We need to get them to a point that this is no longer a cognitive process in getting dressed, but instead automatic and the way to get there, like anything else, is repetitions. Our two probies (probationary members) were able to successfully complete the drills, inclusive of breathing air through their SCBA within the two minute time frame. We will continue to practice to remain sharp in our skills.

We responded to two calls tonight: one for an investigation of white smoke in a singular location (determined to not be an issue or threat) and one for a car accident.

The Crew spent some time tonight also reviewing our SOPs (standard operating procedures) as we work through our probies rookie books! These books are excellent tools and guides to follow to learn about the Township, department and Fire Service. Tonight we reviewed our social media policy and rules/expectations for Junior Members.

If you are interested in joining, we would love to speak with you!

Stay Safe Everyone πŸš’ !!

It's Duty Crew Tuesday!

Tonight the crew set up stations for two of our junior volunteers to practice their physical agility in preparation of their entry test into the fire academy this Saturday. They will be required to work through the stations in a certain amount of time and when they pass ( we like to be positive) they will have an opportunity to attend the Burlington County Fire Academy as they train to become certified firefighters.

Some of the drills they worked on include pulling a weighted hose line (50lbs) over a set distance, carrying and walking with a saw and fire extinguisher, climbing 3 flights of steps with a 50 # duffle bag, dragging a 170+ pound dummy over a set distance, and operating with a hydrant. Oh, we forgot to mention they need to do all this and more, while wearing a 40 # weighted Vest to simulate the weight of the gear. Our two junior members (both 17 years old) did well and will continue to focus on their training the next few days.

We also had a wonderful visit from a family in our community who brought their two children over to see the station, trucks and learn about our gear! We had the opportunity to show them different things on the trucks and let them see the actual weight of the gear and packs .... we might have even talked dad into trying it out πŸ˜€ - he did great and was a great sport in the process! It was great to get to meet more of our community members and we are always more than happy to show the little kids around ! They were a lot of fun to hang out with!

If you are interested in coming by for a visit or interested in becoming a member and volunteering, please come on down on a Tuesday night after 6p or send us a message 😊.

Your Station 303 volunteers responded to provide additional assistance in Tower Ladder 3035.

Stay safe everyone πŸ™.

Earlier this evening a power outage occurred in the area. During this time a phase was dropped somewhere on Woodlane Road in the area of the Burlington County Complex.

This caused motors to over heat and cause a smoke condition in approximately 8 building in the area. Crews from Westampton, Mount Holly, Lumberton, Eastampton, Hainsport, Mount Laurel, Burlington Township, Burlington City, Delran, Beverly, and the Burlington County Fire Marshals Office worked for about 90 minutes to secure power and turn off backup generators before overheating.

While operating, a severe motor vehicle accident occurred in the area of the Library. Crews from Westampton, Mount Laurel, Lumberton, Beverly, Virtua Paramedics and Lumberton EMS worked to extricate one patient. The patient was transported to Cooper Trauma by Lumberton EMS and Virtua Paramedics.

We were excited to be a part of this academy last week! We had a great time meeting and working with all the recruits and we hope to see them continue with the motivation they have in a possible career in a branch of emergency services. ( of course we might be a bit partial to the Fire Service Branch πŸ˜€).

We are always looking for members - junior members start at 16 years old! Please stop by on a Tuesday night at 6p - We would love to speak with you!!

Your Station 303 Volunteers were first due to the Fountain of Life Church Fire in Florence. Upon arrival crews entered the church to locate the source of the fire. The crew was inside for about 20 minutes and a short time later, evacuation tones were ordered. At this time, all crews exited the structure and began an exterior approach.

The fire was absolutely devastating to not only the physical structure, but to the parishioners and community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected and know that the Church and Members will work to rebuild.

There were no reported injuries from the blaze. Crews were onsite for about 6 hours initially. An additional crew responded overnight for added manpower and they were onsite for about 3 hours.

This evening, members trained on drafting operations and proper techniques on supplying aerial devices. We are very fortunate to have fire hydrants within the Township but it’s important to stay proficient in unusual operations incase of any emergency.
