There will be a Memorial Day ceremony on 05/25/2026 at 1030 at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium, 200 N Front Street, Burlington, IA. Guest speaker is Pat Cohen. This event is open to everyone.

When folding the flag with two people, I always recommend this grip.

You can use the Thumb On Top Grip, most definitely, it's the simplest.

However, if the two folding the flag do it correctly, then there will be significant tension on the material and your thumbs will be aching in the first minute due to the pressure needed to hold on to the header end (the end with the header band, shown).

Switching to this grip takes a bit of finesse and practice, bit it's easily accomplished in about 3 seconds and can help you avoid the embarrassment of the flag popping out of your grip because your thumb gives way.
