The Burlington Resident Trooper’s Office and Burlington Police are aware of aggressive door to door solicitors operating in Burlington and surrounding towns over the last week. If unwanted solicitors approach you or visit your home, and cause you concern, contact the Burlington resident Trooper‘s office at 860-673-4856. If a solicitor is aggressive toward you or refuses to leave your property, call 911. In either case, you should try to provide as much information as possible including the address/location, the number of suspects, description of the individuals, their direction of travel, and anything else that you think may be helpful. NEVER allow anyone you do not know into your home. Law Enforcement will respond to your calls, attempt to identify the individuals and their employers, determine if their activity requires local or state permits, and take the appropriate action as needed.

Water Wars.
In the next week or so, Lewis Mills High School students will begin the game of "Water Wars" a game of elimination by shooting opponents with water guns. This is not a school-district activity. Do not call LSM administrators with concerns.
Participants have been warned that certain behaviors are dangerous and/or illegal. If you see behavior that causes you concern or alarm, whether or not you think it is related to this "game," call police at 911, the Burlington Resident Trooper's Office at 860-673-4856, or the Harwinton Resident Trooper's Office at 860-485-1421. If no one is in either office, the phones will roll directly to Troop L in Litchfield.

The Burlington Resident Troopers Office is investigating a two car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday 02/03/26 at approximately 1650hrs on West Chippens Hill Rd. in the town of Burlington. The below vehicle evaded the scene prior to police arrival continuing north on West Chippens Hill Rd. The evading vehicle is believed to be a newer model white Ford Transit cutaway with utility body. The Burlington Resident Trooper’s Office is investigating an evading (hit and run) motor vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, 1/14/2026, at approximately 3:55pm, in the area of 18 Town Line Road, Burlington. A gray or silver, late model (2022-2024), Kia Forte struck a mailbox, resulting in damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Pandiscia, at 860-673-4856.

Rock Road is now closed between Johnnycake Mountain Road and Charolais Way while Frontier replaces the pole that was taken down earlier today. This closure is expected to last for several hours.

For immediate release:
Connecticut State Police Troop L in Litchfield, and the Burlington Resident Trooper's Office is investigating an incident that occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Burlington. At approximately 4:00pm, occupants of a vehicle threw an unknown liquid substance at members of the Lewis S. Mills Cross Country Team as they were running on Lyon Road in the area of Davis Road. State Troopers and Burlington Police interviewed witnesses, conducted an extensive neighborhood canvass, to include the seizure of area surveillance video footage, seized evidence, and are actively working to identify the suspect vehicle and individuals. The vehicle is described as a dark colored or black sedan occupied by at least two, high-school aged males. This is believed to be an isolated incident at this time.

The State Police and Burlington Resident Trooper's Office remind the community that any and all criminal activity directed toward school staff or students is taken very seriously and is vigorously investigated. Arrests in this case are anticipated.
