For 30 years, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Citizen Volunteer Patrol has served as a community-based crime prevention program. Acting as a highly visual “eyes and ears” for law enforcement, these amazing volunteers serve the communities of Burney, the City of Shasta Lake, Cottonwood, Happy Valley, Fall River Mills, and Shingletown.
There are currently openings available and our current volunteers would love to welcome others!

You just knew that Burney Basin Days on the nation’s 250th birthday would be one for the record books!
The Sheriff’s Office was honored to take part in one of the community’s signature events. Representatives from the Burney Citizen Volunteer Patrol were there, some of our SWAT Team members participated with our BearCat Armored Rescue Vehicle, and our Search and Rescue Volunteers and Asphalt Cowboys were well represented, too!
From pancakes to classic cars and fireworks, happy birthday, America! Thanks for the invitation to the party!

Today, we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America.
250 years of freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit that brings us together as a nation.
As you gather with family and friends to enjoy this special holiday, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly. If your plans include alcohol, please designate a sober driver or arrange for a safe ride home. Look out for one another, be considerate of your neighbors, and help make this holiday safe and enjoyable for everyone.
While many are celebrating, the men and women of the Sheriff's Office will be on duty, working to keep our community safe. Thank you for doing your part.
From all of us at the Sheriff's Office, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July as we celebrate America's 250th birthday!
Celebrate freedom. Celebrate responsibly. Remember that personal fireworks are illegal in Shasta County so leave the fireworks to the professionals and have a safe Independence Day!
