⚠ LEARN THE SIGNS ⚠

Today, on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we remind our community that human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery carried out through force, fraud, or coercion. It is a crime that devastates lives and communities.

The Redding Police Department stands with survivors and alongside our law enforcement partners to hold traffickers accountable and support victims on their path to safety and healing. Every person deserves freedom and security. We remain committed to protecting our community and fighting this crime.

Recognizing indicators of this crime can be critical in helping law enforcement bring the criminals to justice. You are our eyes and ears in the community. Here are possible indicators of human trafficking:

✔ A person appears under the control of and/or defers to another person.
✔ A person works long or excessive hours or is always available “on demand”.
✔ A person has little to no awareness of their surroundings.
✔ A person has an untreated illness, visible injuries or brands, appearsmalnourished or sleep-deprived.
✔ A person who seems overly fearful, submissive, tense or paranoid.

If you or someone you know is a victim of human trafficking and needs help:

📞 Call 911 if someone is in immediate danger and be ready to provide as many details as possible.
🖥 Use RPD’s online reporting option www.cityofredding.gov/government/departments/police/get_service/report_a_crime.php
📞 Contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline for support at 1-888-373-7888.
📱 Text “be free” to 233733
🖥 Contact www.magdalenasdaughters.org for victim assistance.

For more information on human trafficking, please watch the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s video or see the attached pamphlet.
