The burn ban was renewed for another 14 days this morning at the County Commissioners meeting. Conditions continue to deteriorate and we ask people to be extremely cautious with any activity that might start a fire.

Putting this out there. On the way to a grass fire today one of our brush trucks blew the engine. It’s a 6.7 diesel. The Dept is in desperate need of either another engine or if anyone has a cab and chassis hopefully willing to donate Thanks in advance

While this is a great way to warn of forest and grassfire we would like to encourage you to take some time this weekend to make your place more defensible to fires.
1. Do you have pre-connected water hoses that can be reached to stop a fire from spreading?
2. Are there thickets, brush or low hanging branches close to your house and buildings that could allow a fire to get too close?
3. Is there debris, old wood, boxes or trash that will burn close to the house and buildings?
4. Is your grass mowed short at least 100 feet from house and buildings and weeds trimmed?

Water Conservation Request
July 20, 2026

Southern Oklahoma Water Corporation is requesting immediate water conservation due to high temperatures and a well offline and undergoing repairs.

NO outdoor watering (except for animals).
Minimize all water use.
Repairs should be finished by late next week.
