We’re helping Harney County Emergency Management and Malheur County Emergency Management organize post-fire resource fairs for folks impacted by 2026 Burns Basin Fires. Drop by the Community Center in Juntura on 8/24 at 6pm MDT or the Elk’s Lodge in Burns on 8/25 between 11-6pm PDT to visit with representatives from Farm Service Agency, NRCS, SWCDs and Cooperative Weeds Management Areas, BLM, DSL, DEQ, Division of Financial Regulation, Oregon Emergency Management, county planning, and others with relevant information or expertise will all have tables set up and attendees can drop in and get the information they need. Come see EOARC’s Drs. Katie Wollstein and Juliana Ranches who will have a table set up and will be ready to discuss livestock health and smoke exposure, post-fire rehabilitation, and recovery planning.

We are happy to share that Dr. Temple Grandin will be visiting and presenting at Oregon State University in Corvallis on Friday, August 14!

Dr. Grandin is a world-renowned animal behavior scientist, livestock industry consultant, author, and autism advocate. During this special event, she will discuss The Grandin Papers, highlighting more than 50 years of research on animal behavior and welfare that has helped shape and improve the livestock industry.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Grandin and, for many of our students, producers, colleagues, and community members, it may truly be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see her in person.

The event will happen on Friday, August 14, held at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center (725 SW 26th Street, Corvallis, OR 97331). Doors open at 8:30 a.m., Dr. Grandin will speak at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Q&A and book signing. Light refreshments will be provided.

Great to receive the Spring 2026 Oregon State University Steer-A-Year "From the Sorting Gate to the Dinner Plate". The EOARC Burns donated calf did very well!!! Gained a total of 865 pounds over 178 days (4.86 lb/day), had a 888 lb Hot Carcass Weight, 0.5 inches of back fat, and graded High Choice!! This is such a great program and a great group of students.
