📚 Harney County is looking for two new members to join the Library Advisory Board!

If you care about your local library and want a say in how it's run, this is a great way to get involved. The Board helps shape library policies, weighs in on the budget, and gives the community a voice in library operations. Members are appointed by the County Court to a four-year term (up to two consecutive terms), and the Board meets the last Tuesday of the month at 4:30 pm at the library.

🔥 RAFFLE FOR OUR LOCAL RFPAs!

Down Right Drilling has generously built and donated a custom bar/BBQ setup, and it's being raffled off at the Beef, Boots & BBQ Grill Off to support the volunteers who worked so hard fighting fires across our community this year!

All proceeds will be split between our local Rangeland Fire Protection Associations (RFPAs) — a huge thank-you to everyone who has kept our community safe.

California Team 4 along with local representatives will be hosting a meeting for the Second Flat and Coleman Creek Fires. The meeting will be held in-person and streamed live on YouTube.

🚨 HARNEY COUNTY DECLARES LOCAL DISASTER 🚨

Today, July 26, 2026, the Harney County Court signed a Declaration of Local Disaster due to extreme fire weather conditions causing widespread, severe damage to our range land, timber, and livestock economy — with real risk to lives and property.

Multiple wildfires in the county are surpassing initial attack, and with fires burning both regionally and nationally, response resources are stretched thin. The extended forecast calls for higher-than-normal temperatures and below-average precipitation, meaning the threat isn't easing up soon.

The County has activated its Wildfire Annex emergency plan and is formally requesting that Governor Tina Kotek declare a State of Emergency for Harney County, and that USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins expedite assistance to local agricultural producers who've suffered ongoing losses from drought and wildfire.
