When speaking with Aimee Mills, it’s immediately clear that her journey is deeply rooted in both professional dedication and a strong sense of community. Aimee spent 17 years working in banking, where she steadily grew and advanced throughout her career, building a strong foundation of experience along the way.

Her story, however, goes far beyond her professional life. Aimee comes from a family that has long been a cornerstone in the community. Her parents, Bro. James and Debbie Mills, have devoted years of service to organizations such as Saline Baptist Church, Saline Christian Academy, and West Bronston Baptist Church—instilling in her the same values of faith, service, and connection. Aimee’s ties to Burnside are especially meaningful. Through her mother, Debbie Mills, a Burnside native, she shares a deep family connection to the area. Her grandparents, Oscar and Alice Fitzgerald, were instrumental in shaping her love for the community. Aimee fondly recalls spending much of her childhood in Burnside, creating lasting memories that continue to influence her today.

Now, as part of the Burnside Tourism team, Aimee finds herself back in a place that has always held a special place in her heart. While stepping into the role, she quickly discovered there was an entire “scene” she hadn’t been exposed to before within tourism industry. Aimee has been gaining a deeper understanding with the many moving parts that help a community thrive.

Through that growth, Aimee has developed a clear vision for the future of Burnside. She recognizes the importance of expanding local businesses, increasing rental opportunities, and creating experiences that draw more visitors to the area—efforts that ultimately strengthen the community as a whole. She is especially passionate about continuing to grow Burnside’s beloved Christmas Island, with hopes of making it an even bigger and more impactful event for the region. Aimee also spoke about the importance of the Burnside Marina, a key destination for boaters and visitors accessing the lake. She sees tremendous potential there and believes it simply needs the right attention and care to bring renewed energy and activity back to the area.

Beyond her vision and goals, Aimee’s personality shines just as brightly. With a natural warmth and a “sparkly” presence, she is truly a people person who enjoys connecting with others—something that serves her well in a role centered around community and hospitality. Each day, Aimee carries with her the thought of how proud her grandparents would be, as she helps celebrate and share the charm and story of Burnside with others. It’s a full-circle moment—one that blends her past, her passion, and her hopes for the future of the community she holds so dear.
