*Update*
The road is reopened. Crews pumped water all night. A Big shout out to our Burnsville Vol. Fire Department and assisting agencies for working so hard to get it reopened.

Bowditch Street and Reservoir Road are temporarily closed due to flooding at the intersection. Crews are working to get the water cleared at this time. Please avoid the area until further notice.

Burnsville Police Department Activity Report

During the month of June, officers with the Burnsville Police Department issued 79 citations and made 6 misdemeanor arrests.

Additionally, during the evening of July 3 and into the early morning hours of July 4, our department conducted a traffic checkpoint on Pensacola Road. The checkpoint resulted in several citations and one arrest on a charge of misdemeanor child abuse.

The Burnsville Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and keeping our roadways and community safe. We appreciate the continued support of the citizens we serve.

Flock ALPR Alert Leads to Arrest of South Carolina Murder Suspect.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 1:55 PM, Boone Police Department and
Watauga County Sheriff’s Office units were notified of a Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) alert involving a vehicle entering the Town of Boone.

The alert was associated with an individual who had an outstanding arrest warrant from Greenville County, South Carolina, for murder.

Boone Police officers and Watauga County Sheriff’s deputies immediately began working together to locate the vehicle and the wanted subject.

Through a coordinated response and real-time information sharing, units located the subject at the Watauga County Recreation Center. After the subject’s identity was confirmed, he was taken into custody.

The arrestee was identified as:
Raimon St. John Campbell
20 years of age
Simpsonville, South Carolina
Mr. Campbell was held under no bond pending an appearance in Watauga County District Court on September 30, 2026.

This case is an excellent example of cooperation among law enforcement agencies across municipal, county, and state lines. Boone Police officers, Watauga County Sheriff’s deputies,
and law enforcement partners in South Carolina worked together quickly and effectively to locate and arrest a person wanted for a violent crime.

This case also demonstrates the tremendous value of Flock Safety ALPR technology.
The alert provided officers and deputies with timely, actionable information that allowed them to quickly focus resources, coordinate a safe response, and take a wanted murder suspect into custody.
We appreciate the assistance and professionalism of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. Public safety does not stop at city, county, or state lines, and this arrest shows how strong partnerships and effective technology help keep our community safe.
All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
