Burton Rotary Club

Burton Rotary Club The World's First Service Organization The Burton Rotary Club had its beginning through the interest of past District Governor, Jack Hamady, a member of the Flint Rotary Club.

Businessmen in the Burton area were contacted in early 1979, relative to their interest in this club. The first meeting place was Walli's East. The second was the El Rancho Restaurant. We were a provisional club only for a short time. We received charter at a special charter presentation and dinner held at the El Rancho. Presently, the club meets every Thursday at the IMA Brookwood Golf Course Clubhouse.

Rotarians worldwide use the FOUR WAY TEST of all the things we think, say or do:

1) Is it the TRUTH?
2) Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3) Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

This morning we were at Burton Project Heat’s On. What an awesome example of #CollaboratingforCommunity! Project Heat’s On combines the efforts of Goyette Mechanical, the Burton City Council, City of Burton, Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Security Credit Union, Burton Rotary Club, Gordon’s Food Service, All Trinkets and Printing, the Burton View, the United Way of Genesee County and several other local companies all of whom have come together in a great community service effort to provide needed heating system cleaning and repair for those who cannot afford the service. #Local370 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Service Trades members will service 50 homes that are completely without heat or have damaged piping that vents dangerous CO (carbon monoxide) into the home.
Help on hand as YMCA foodbank faces busiest ever year. “When a pallet stacked high with porridge, coffee, tea, tinned tuna and other vital supplies arrived, we were overjoyed. Demand is up by 51% compared with the same period last year, and we expect that to increase still further as the economic impact of the pandemic unfolds. We rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations like Rotary to ensure that those in crisis in our community don’t go hungry.” . That’s the message from Paul Laffey of Burton YMCA Burton which is facing its busiest ever year. . As part of the East Midlands-wide Rotary4foodbanks initiative, the Rotary Club of Derby Mercia has donated £2000 worth of supplies to the two YMCA foodbanks, topping up a regular donation made to Burton YMCA foodbank by Bretby and Burton Rotary clubs. . Says Mercia Club secretary Alan Mason: ““Like other clubs in the region we plan to continue working through the Rotary4foodbanks initiative to ensure that the money we give stretches further to help the most needy.” . Here we see Natasha Aishford – Volunteer Co-Ordinator - Thanks to all the volunteers!! . https://district.rotary1220.org/rotary-steps-in-to-help-local-ymca-foodbanks-in-busiest-year-ever YMCA Burton YMCA Derbyshire Bretby Rotary Club Burton Rotary Club Derby Rotary Club
