⚠️ Public Notice: Emergency Notification System Test ⚠️

We will be conducting a test of the Emergency Notification System on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. for the citizens within Washington County.

This test is part of a statewide drill led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management to help confirm system functionality, prepare communities to receive emergency messages, and encourage individuals and families to consider making a plan for disasters before an actual emergency occurs.

During this time, you may receive alerts through various channels, including text messages, phone calls, and/or emails. You may be asked to confirm receipt of the message - confirmation helps ensure the system is working properly.

This is only a test - no action is required beyond any requested confirmation.

Thank you for your cooperation!

While conditions today and tomorrow and forecasted to be in the moderate fire danger category, this weekend conditions will change.
With the return of a high pressure heat dome, lower relative humidity, and returning gusty winds, the fire danger will return to a HIGH category this weekend.
Even though Washington County is not currently in a burn ban, we ask that when conditions change, like this weekend you refrain from burning. Based off weather forecast we expect conditions to moderate next week, once again.

We have been informed that the Shepard Mt Ranch will be conducting a prescribed burn this afternoon. They plan to burn 200-300 acres for wildlife management. Smoke will be visible in the area of 1948 and Longpoint rd.
Weather conditions today are conducive for proper burning.
