Good Day BSSA FAM!! We hope all is well. Heads Up! This will be a very lengthy post. So, as mentioned in the last post, it was the first time that we were able to instruct class with POWER on last Saturday. Yay!! That’s right, it has been a very long frustrating and stressful time.
Most of you may not know the ordeal that we and our other fellow tenants experienced in the Plaza. Since April 24th to August 6th, we were without electrical power due to vandalism. That’s right, for a little over THREE MONTHS we’ve had to place a lot of our classes on hold. Especially, our self-defense classes and new classes. Plus, it was very HOT! VERY HOT!!
Three days after finding out that the power was out, we had a CPL class scheduled. It was too late to cancel because this class was on the roster for some time. Needless to say, we were scrambling. We were looking for USB lights, tap lights, USB fans and a power source. We did not want to spend the money, but we had no choice. Using a traditional generator was not ideal for us due to students were sitting so close to the doors. We did not want to inadvertently kill someone who was there learning how to be safe. This definitely would not have been good for business.
Students that attended that CPL class were very, very supportive and understanding. However, it was weird for us because we didn’t want the students to think that we did not pay our bills or that Consumers just shut us off. Thank goodness another fellow tenant came by when they saw a few lights and asked, “How do you all have power?” Their presence validated why we had things set-up like we did and not that we were having a safety seance. LOL!!
Prior to class, we thought we had checked off the most important things to power. However, there was one thing that was missing. Wait for it, the restroom sink runs by power. WHAT?!?! We totally forgot that the faucet needed power. It was not something that you think about. Thank God we had soap and hand sanitizer available. Could you imagine if we didn’t! The students did not mention the faucet at all. Bless them. It could have been that they knew we were doing everything to make them feel comfortable. It’s quite possible that they didn’t want to add to our plight too. Therefore, we had to purchase a battery pack to power the faucet.
The most complicated area to light up for class was the Airsoft Range. You really do not know how much light is utilized until it is gone. It was difficult trying to simulate adequate lighting. Hopefully, by looking at the photos you can see that we’d tried to do our best.
So, with all of that being said and that was a lot. We would like to thank all of the students that attended classes during this time. We greatly appreciate their support and patience. We especially thank all of those who left great reviews and comments for us during this time. Thank You!! We also like to thank our fellow tenants that kept us informed. If you’re up at the Plaza kindly, take a moment to check out their businesses. Finally, we would like to thank all of those who helped restore the power. We know it wasn’t easy, but thank you all for your time and hard work!!
Okay, BSSA FAM, stay tuned because we will be announcing upcoming new exciting FUN activities and classes after Labor Day. We look forward to seeing familiar faces as well as new ones. Continue to keep us lifted in positive energy and prayers. You all take care and be safe. Much Love!
