Ladder 1!

Burton City Fire Department’s #Enforcer 107’ #AscendantLadder is equipped with a #PUCPump. Within #BurtonMI there are many tight neighborhoods, making the shorter wheelbase of the truck a major benefit. The front intake on the apparatus allows for quick work with close hydrants. To allow fire personnel easy access when arriving on scene, the department has installed an interior cabinet with a pegboard that is used as tool storage.

On February 15, 2020 the City of Burton Fire Department responded to a fire in a home. Everyone in the home was able to safely evacuate but one of the things about this fire that stood out was that one of the bedroom doors was closed. The family gave us permission to share these photos to show the safety benefits of sleeping with your bedroom door closed. Had anyone been in this bedroom it would have been very survivable.

Genesee County 911

In light of last nights crash involving one of our officers, Genesee County 911 would like to reiterate the State law in Michigan regarding emergency vehicles. When approaching emergency vehicles or tow trucks with their lights activated, you are required to slow down to no more than 10 mph under the posted speed limit and move over safely to an entirely open lane of traffic away from the incident.

Please be aware of your surroundings. Do not text and drive, play with the radio in your vehicle, turn your head to talk to passengers or do ANYTHING that could distract you from what is ahead of you. It could mean the difference between life and death and someone not being able to go home to their family.

We’re so glad the officer is going to be ok. Our thoughts are with them and a speedy recovery.
