Building a strong child welfare workforce starts with planting the right seeds — and that's exactly what the Title IV-E Roundtable is designed to do.

From May 19-21, representatives from public and tribal child welfare agencies and their university partners will gather in Denver, CO, for the 2026 Title IV-E Roundtable: Growing Hope Rooted in Community. This national convening brings together educators, trainers, and agency partners who are shaping the next generation of child welfare professionals.

As a Wildflower Wellness sponsor, the National Center is proud to participate alongside the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) and the C.A.S.E. Academy (Center for Adoption Support and Education). Together, our organizations work to ensure that child welfare professionals at every level are equipped with the training and tools they need to provide adoption-competent mental health care across systems. Representing our partnerships at the gathering will be Erin Bader, LCSW, with the National Center, LaShawnda Kilgore, PhD, with NTI, and Laura Ornelas, LCSW, with the C.A.S.E. Academy.

C.A.S.E.'s 2025 research study and nationwide survey reveal that adoption-competent therapy produces measurable improvements in family outcomes—and that the need for that training far outpaces current access.

For professionals ready to build that foundation, the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) offers a free, web-based starting point. Grounded in the competencies of C.A.S.E.'s accredited Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program, NTI is designed to give clinicians, child welfare professionals, and school staff the tools to support foster, adoptive, and kinship families in understanding their losses, their questions, and their paths toward well-being.

C.A.S.E. Training Institute Director Dawn Wilson, MSW, reflects on what the findings mean for NTI and what it looks like for organizations to get started.
