ATTENTION:

The Burtonsville Day Celebration Planning Committee met this morning and have decided to cancel our 2023 32nd Annual Burtonsville Day Parade and Celebration event. This we did in concern of both participants' and organizers' health and safety concerns. This is an unfortunate and sad decision for all of us and also event participants who show up each year but was a necessary decision to be made.

Thank you for all your support and understanding. We hope to see you all next year.

Stay safe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Burtonsville Day Celebration planning committee would like to inform you that after our meeting this evening, we have made a decision to notify everyone that we may have to cancel Saturday's Burtonsville Day events due to the predicted path of the tropical storm making its way up the East Coast and then up into the Cheasapeake Bay area. This path unfortunately would place our area directly under the path of the storm. We will be tracking the path of the storm tomorrow morning and will make a final decision by noon tomorrow (Friday, if you are reading this Friday morning). We have never canceled before, but this is more than usual rain showers, and we must consider public safety. We will notify you tomorrow, Friday, early afternoon as to our final decision.
Please know that we do not make these types of decisions lightly and do so only if life and safety concerns arise, such as we did when we cancelled our event during the COVID pandemic. This tropical storm could be one of those times. Thank you for wanting to join with us to celebrate our community event.
We will post our final decision early afternoon tomorrow Friday, September 22.
