May was a very busy month for the BFPD. Our personnel ran a total of 73 calls for service throughout the month of May. June has been just as busy so far, as our volunteers have ran 16 calls in this month.

Today, Sunday May 17th, marks the beginning of National EMS Week. In honor of this, we want to highlight the men and women of the Bushnell Fire Protection District who are certified EMS personnel. These 15 dedicated individuals have a combined total of 99 years of EMS experience and respond to any and all types of medical emergencies, including 648 calls in 2025. Our EMS personnel are volunteers and as such, leave their jobs, give up their free time, and wake up in the middle of the night to help friends, family, and sometimes complete strangers. In addition, they spend several hours a year continuing their education and sharpening their skills. Thank you to all of our amazing EMS personnel and those all over the world that make a difference every day.

Every year, we award a scholarship to a graduating senior from BPC high school. This scholarship is funded entirely through our annual golf outing at Shaw Creek Golf Course.

We would like to thank everyone who participated, sponsored, and made donations toward this past year’s golf outing, along with Shaw Creek Golf Course for continuing to host our fundraiser to help further education.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of this year’s firemen’s scholarship is Morgan Lowe. Best of luck Morgan in your future endeavors!

The storm sirens in Bushnell will be tested today, Saturday May 9th. These sirens will be sounding in short bursts throughout the afternoon. This is only a test.

Earlier this week, our personnel had a landing zone training with our friends at Air Evac. Air Evac is an asset we often utilize during emergencies to provide the best possible care. A big thank you goes to Air Evac Lifeteam 144 - Macomb, IL for stopping by to speak with our first responders on how to safely and properly set up a landing zone and work with the helicopter crew!

The fun starts at 5!!!!!!!! Bring a team out and enjoy tell band starts

Don’t forget about our trivia night! This fun filled general trivia will be held from 5-7 PM at the Bushnell Rec Center on Saturday, April 25th! It is $10 per person with teams of 8.

After the trivia, stick around to see Decade of Decadence perform all the biggest hits from the 80’s! The band rocks out from 8-11 PM, with concert tickets available for $15 per person. This is one night you won’t want to miss!
