A lot of information out there these days. Parents and players drowning in information and starving for wisdom!

Simple yet very effective with hitters….

No pitch….hit the ball off the tee!

If Its pitched….react and hit the middle in pitch!

Cues/Focus:

1. Hunt your pitch! I prefer middle/away and then react inside. But take away the guessing game! When you start hunting and let your trained natural ability react, you will put yourself in a better position for success.

2. Be on time! Timing is everything. Give yourself the ability to deliver the barrel and keep inside pitches no further than the pull gap. Avoid hooking it down the line.

3. Stay square to the plate! When incorporating off speed into this drill, maintain posture and shoulders to the plate as long as possible. This will give you a higher percentage to deliver an impact swing on the pitch.

Train for the game! Be purposeful and have intent!

SCS Welcomes La Roche University Coach Hunter Treece On Board as Throwing/Pitching Director

Hunter is currently in his second year as the Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach at La Roche University.  He spent one year as the Assistant Baseball Coach at Keuka College prior to that.  His pitching philosophy is focused around movement and longevity while creating focused individual routines.  

Hunter is very familiar with SCS as he once spent his middle/high school days as a player here and now returns to play an integral role in the vision of developing players and preparing them for college baseball.  Hunter pitched collegiately for Mercyhurst University and advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series twice as a relief pitcher.  He is excited to impact the landscape of the travel baseball industry and challenge players through their training environment.

High School teams back after it this weekend. 16u Weisz and 17u Diesel both win game 1 of the PBR World Series in Cortland NY by scores of 4-1 and 5-1.

We wish all teams the best this weekend as the rest kick off play at Atlantic Coast today!

What makes a good pitcher good?

Mechanical Precision: A pitcher's ability to repeat their delivery with consistent mechanics is fundamental. This includes aspects like delivery point, stride length, hip rotation, and balance. Athleticism plays a crucial role here, as poor mechanics not only hinder performance but also increase the risk of injury over time.

Work Ethic: Baseball demands relentless dedication. Pitchers must not only work hard but also smartly. This involves comprehensive strength and conditioning programs that improve flexibility, agility, and power. Effective training enhances performance and durability, crucial for enduring a long season.

Strategic Intelligence: As hitters mature, simply relying on velocity becomes insufficient. Pitchers must develop off-speed pitches and vary their sequences to keep batters off balance. Strategic pitching involves understanding hitters' tendencies and adjusting game plans accordingly.

Mental Toughness: Pitching is a mental battle as much as a physical one. Facing adversity—whether giving up hits or enduring tough innings—requires resilience. Mental toughness enables pitchers to stay focused, make adjustments, and bounce back stronger after setbacks.

Health and Injury Prevention: Proper care and maintenance of the body are paramount. This goes beyond basic stretching to include tailored throwing programs and meticulous attention to mechanics. Preventing injuries through proactive health management allows pitchers to stay consistently on the mound.
