Good morning Butler. The DPW is currently working on a water main break on Hampton Avenue near the Library. Water has been or will shortly be getting turned off to buildings in the area surrounding the break. We do not have a current time of resolution as we are waiting for DIgger's Hotline to finishing marking the pavement before we cut into the concrete.

Please call Village Hall with any questions. Thank you!

Good morning again! Here are some does and don't for home automotive maintenance to ensure that work done on vehicles does not negatively affect our waterways!

Chemicals found in automobiles can enter our waterways via storm drains if not properly handled. Contaminants such as motor oil and antifreeze pose severe human and environmental health hazards. When performing maintenance on your vehicle at home, do so responsibly by following these guidelines. Be sure to properly dispose of all waste chemicals at your local hazardous waste disposal site. Visit respectourwaters.org for more information.

Good morning Butler.

The Department of Public Works would like to remind the public to please not flush wipes down the toilet even if the product claims to be "flushable". The Department had to spend several hours yesterday cleaning out a sanitary sewer main that was experiencing a significant jam caused by these wipes. What's worse is that these mains were already cleaned less than a year ago as part of regular sewer maintenance.

If not caught, these jams can lead to sewer backups and damaged mains/laterals.

For more information, please see the article below from several years ago which includes information from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District - MMSD.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping the mains clear!

Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District shared a photo of what really happens to pipes when you use "flushable wipes."

As we head into the gardening season, remember these tips from our friends at Respect Our Waters.

Having a healthy garden doesn’t mean eliminating all insects and pests. Please use pesticides as a last resort, and if using, do so with caution. Pesticides are chemical substances that help manage pests, but pose harm to people, animals, and the environment. If using, DO NOT apply on paved surfaces, near storm drains, before it rains, or during high winds. Help us prevent stormwater pollution and keep your community healthy by following these tips to use pesticides responsibly.

Good afternoon! As you may know, back in January, former Trustee Patricia Tiarks resigned from her seat on the Village Board after submitting nomination papers to the Village Clerk for her re-election. Due to State law, she could not be removed from the ballot and won re-election on April 7th.

Since she is not eligible to be seated due to residency requirements, the seat she won is now vacant. Last night the Village Board took action to begin the process of filling her seat which will be done by appointment by the Board.

Residents interested in applying for the open seat should complete a Village Board Application located here: https://www.butlerwi.gov/how_do_i/apply_for/permits_and_applications.php -211

Applicants should have their paperwork to the Village Administrator-Clerk no later than 4:00pm on May 8th, 2026.

Please call 262-783-2525 with any questions!
