Good morning Butler. As we head into Fall, make sure that storm drains are remaining clear of leaves to help with water quality of the Menomonee River and to avoid any potential street flooding that may result from clogged drains!

Leaves are rich in nutrients including phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium. When leaves are left on top of storm drains, these nutrients leach out into stormwater runoff, creating ‘phosphorus tea’. Storm drains then transport the nutrient heavy water directly into our rivers and lakes, often causing unwanted algae blooms that harm aquatic ecosystems and interfere with outdoor recreational activities. Stop brewing phosphorus tea by keeping storm drains clear of leaves this fall. Visit www.respectourwaters.org to learn about leaf management alternatives and take action by committing to keep a storm drain clean at www.adoptyourdrain.com.

Do you know how to spot an illicit spill? Respect Our Waters tells us in this post how you can identify one of these hazards.

We all live in a Watershed. Contrary to the name, a watershed includes both land and water and is named for the waterbody into which the rainfall hitting that area of land will flow into and affect. Southeastern Wisconsin rivers, lakes and streams face major challenges from non-point pollution and a...

**EDIT The tower is estimated to be down approximately 30 days**

Good morning Butler! Please be aware that on August 3rd, Lane Tank will be starting maintenance on the Village's water tower. During the time they are working on the tower, the tower itself will be offline. The Village will have a pressure tank on site to allow for the uninterrupted flow of water to residents and businesses.

Also during this time, the City of Brookfield WI Fire Department will be taking precautions by staging fire protection measures at various points surrounding the Village to ensure resident and business safety while the tower is down. We currently do not have an exact schedule on when to anticipate the work being completed, but this post will be updated once that information is received from the contractor.

Thank you!
