As summer comes to an end, we want to send a huge THANK YOU to our community for supporting our Community Cooldown station at the Butler Police Department throughout the summer!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated water, popsicles, and snacks to help keep our community comfortable during the hot summer months.

This Cool Down Station was more than just a place to beat the heat, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, strengthen relationships, meet new people, and build trust between our department and the people we serve.

A very special THANK YOU to our very own Court Clerk Shaiqueta Brown for putting this wonderful initiative together and helping make it such a success!

We appreciate every person who contributed, stopped by, and helped make this summer a memorable one. We are proud to serve a community that continues to show up and support one another💙

🚨SCAM ALERT🚨

On August 26, 2026, Officers were dispatched to the Truist Bank. Officers made contact with a subject who stated someone had called him claiming they worked for Truist Bank and that a large amount of money had been wired into his account and that he needed to withdraw the amount of money and they would send a driver to come pick it up. Officers advised the subject that this was a scam and his money was deposited back into his account.

Scammers will claim they work for a bank and that you need to withdraw money from your account. Verify the phone number-Beware phone numbers may even be “spoofed” where the bank’s actual phone number may be displayed on your caller ID. Look up the bank’s phone number online and call back to verify. Banks will never ask you to withdraw money especially if no paperwork is required first.

If you are unsure and believe you are being scammed, contact 911 and DO NOT send anyone money or give anyone your personal information.

🚨FUGITIVE UPDATE-STILL AT LARGE🚨

JYKEL THOMAS still remains on the run and is actively being sought out by the United States Marshals Service, Georgia Bureau of Investigations, and the Butler Police Department. The United States Marshals Service has now adopted the case and is assisting in the search to locate and apprehend this subject.

Do not assist, harbor, conceal, or otherwise help this individual evade law enforcement. Anyone found to be assisting this subject may constitute criminal offenses.

If you have any information regarding this individual’s whereabouts, DO NOT approach. Call 911 immediately. Information may be provided anonymously.

JYKEL TREVON THOMAS is wanted by the Butler Police Department for multiple outstanding felony warrants including aggravated assault in reference to a shooting which occurred in the City of Butler this afternoon.

Operation Southern Slowdown begins today July 13th until July 19th.

The Butler Police Department will be participating in this annual, week-long campaign aiming to reduce speeding, reckless driving, and traffic fatalities.

Slow down, obey the speed limits, and help keep our highways safe!

Thanks to the Butler GA Police Department Reynolds GA Police Department,and the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, Georgia all of the school supplies have already been covered. ❤️
