Town officials and staff joined the Granville County Chamber of Commerce this week for a ribbon cutting welcoming American Hero to Butner and celebrating the opening of its new location!

We’re glad to see American Hero establish a location in Butner and look forward to seeing the business become part of the community.

Congratulations to Mayor Dr. Linda Jordon on being selected as a member of the sixth cohort of the North Carolina Hunt State Policy Fellows!

Through the program, Fellows will participate in a series of sessions examining critical issues across the education continuum, from early childhood and K–12 education to postsecondary attainment and workforce development. Fellows will engage with policymakers, practitioners, and leading experts to explore evidence-based approaches, exchange perspectives across political lines, and identify strategies to strengthen education systems and improve outcomes for students across North Carolina.

The Granville County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has opened the spring/summer cycle for the tourism mini-grant and sponsorship programs.

The Mini Grant Program supports events and marketing initiatives that bring visitors to Granville County. This program is ideal for festivals, community events, and promotional efforts that encourage both day trips and overnight stays. Organizations and businesses applying for a mini grant must have been operational and open to the public for a minimum of three years. Funding requests are marketing specific and cannot exceed 25% of the overall marketing budget for the event or project.

Two virtual information sessions will be held on September 17th (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) and September 22nd (3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Applications must be submitted between September 1st and October 9th at 5:00 p.m.

SGWASA has provided the following update regarding upcoming pipeline construction on 11th Street. Please review the information below for details about closures, detours, and the project timeline.

Pipeline construction scheduled for 11th Street in Butner, NC begins at 8:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2026, and will take place between West B Street and West C Street.

The work will require intermittent closures to through traffic for approximately four to six weeks. During active closure periods, only local traffic will be permitted within the construction area. Detour signs are posted to guide motorists.

Crews will work to complete the construction and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. SGWASA appreciates your patience while this important infrastructure work is underway.
