If red enough you called your self Native American and got a card for the Reservation. But some were neither, not white not red enough. They were called by most Half Breeds. My family calls them The Ones In the Middle.

Our Lady of the Rockies is a mentor to the effort not a model in size ,location or even effort. We will not ask for a City to gather and work as one to get it done. That said, at the end it should be big and bold enough that it lets us tell her story. We do not ask for the moon. We ask for the little ones, with the girls 1st in mind, to know Marie Anne Gaboury,s story here in Montana. 17 years ago while floating The Bighole River I told my daughter Madison Anne (age 8 at the time ) the story of Marie Anne. She had just been taught about the amazing courage and effort made by Lewis and Clark. She asked me this; why did they not teach us about Grandma. She was not on the river when they passed North Dakota on the way home. But within a few months she would give birth to her and Jean Baptist’s oldest child just this side of The Medicine Line in Pembina N D. They were all French decent and but for the distance of one river bank to another ; American. Both parents born pnon the Canadian side of the St Lawerance River.
