⛰️💙 Coach Purdy and our incredible track team took on the Butte this afternoon! What an amazing reminder that at Butte Elementary, we are not just training students to run races, we are training them to conquer challenges, push through obstacles, and keep climbing even when the path gets steep.

Dear Families and Friends: After years of educating children, solving mysteries, surviving staff meetings, and pretending the copier wasn’t personally attacking them, two of our amazing staff members are officially retiring! While we’re sad to see them go, we’re so excited for all the sleeping in, coffee drinking, traveling, and “not answering emails after 3:00 PM” they have ahead of them. Please join us in wishing them the very best in their next adventure — they’ve definitely earned it!

Our elementary students are heading out on an overnight adventure to the Seward SeaLife Center, where they will spend an exciting day exploring exhibits, and will get the chance to see seals, sea lions, puffins, and other ocean creatures up close while discovering how scientists care for and protect Alaska’s waters.

Of course, no overnight trip is complete without late-night giggles, misplaced socks, dramatic snack trades, and never enough sleep for the chaperones. Students will build independence, make unforgettable memories, and come home full of stories, fun facts, and possibly souvenirs shaped like sea otters.

Our 3rd grade teachers, and their parents, worked really hard to make this happen for these students. Thanks so much to everyone who made this trip possible! We can't wait to hear all about it.

Huge thanks to Mrs. Brown and all the parents who helped fundraise this year — our 5th graders are officially off for 3 days in Denali National Park and Preserve!

For many of these students, this is truly a trip of a lifetime: three whole days of adventure, wildlife, fresh air, and absolutely no ability to say “I’m bored” with a straight face. They’ll get to explore Alaska’s incredible wilderness, learn about nature and wildlife, and create memories they’ll still be talking about long after the bus ride home and approximately 37 rounds of “Are we there yet?”

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this unforgettable experience possible for our students. We can’t wait to hear the stories… especially the ones that are at least slightly exaggerated by Friday.

Our very own Mrs. Boozer and Mrs. McGinn are retiring this year! While we’re incredibly sad to see them go, we’re also excited for them as they trade lesson plans, emails, and alarm clocks for adventures, relaxation, and the freedom to take a break whenever they want.

Come wish them well, share your favorite memories, and say goodbye for yourself before they ride off into the retirement sunset.

We have officially interrupted our testing sessions today for something just as important… celebrating our amazing Y Gold students, our incredible teachers, and spending time with the Twindly Bridge Lego Robotics Team! 🎉🤖💛

What a JAM-PACKED, fun-filled day at Butte Elementary! ☀️🎈 From laughter and teamwork to robotics and celebrations, our school has been full of energy, smiles, and Bandit pride all day long! 💙🧡

As we wrap up all the excitement, we will finish our end-of-year i-Ready math diagnostic testing over the next two days. Please help your students be ready to do their very best by ensuring they get plenty of sleep, rest, and arrive at school ready to show what they know! 📚✨🧠

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible educators we have right here at BTE! 💙🧡

Our school is recognized as high growth and high performing, and that doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because of the passion, dedication, and relentless commitment of our teachers. Every single day, they go above and beyond to ensure our students experience both academic success AND social-emotional growth. 📚🌱

From early mornings to late afternoons, from small group instruction to big celebrations, our staff pours their hearts into this work. ❤️

We would like to thank our school community for truly showing its heart during the ongoing bus strike. We have seen families coming together—coordinating rides, adjusting routines, and supporting one another. Your commitment reflects the strength and compassion that make Butte so special.
