Now that the veggies are all at ripening peak, just a reminder that if you have excess veggies to share we encourage you all to consider donating to Bourne Food Pantry serving 300 families in Bourne. We are aware that many of you already do. Produce being donated to the Pantry by gardeners does not need to be washed. It should be dropped off to the Pantry on Wednesday any time from 9am-4pm. Also, if gardeners are early birds, they can drop off produce on Thursday morning between 8-9am. The Pantry is open to clients at 9am on Thursdays and that’s when the produce would be given out to them.

Bourne Food Pantry is located at 20 Commerce Park RD, Pocasset phone #508-759-3351, email [email protected]. See Ann Marie Riley or Karen Ross.. If you are going to be on vacation and need a garden sitter we are happy to arrange watering your garden in exchange for ripening produce for the food pantry. If you would like to hook up with us to give any of your produce to the pantry we are usually at Valley Farm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays picking. Shoot us an email or stop in the thrift Thurs-Sat 10-4. We hate to see lucious veggies go to waste or rot on the vine when you can do your neighbor a good turn.

VFCG Second Annual Cookout
If you had a good time at the cookout last week, you weren’t alone. Couldn’t beat the fabulous view overlooking our beautiful community garden at Valley Farm. Thanks for turning out! If you couldn’t make it stay tuned for the Second Annual Valley Farm PumpkinFest on October 8, 10-2.

VFCG Wish List
If anyone has extra plastic supermarket bags, we could use some for those of us who keep forgetting to bring them when we’re picking. Please leave in the shed in the hanging plastic bag to the inside right of the door near the small hand tools shelf area. It would beat using our tshirts!

We could also use a couple empty five gallon buckets if anyone spies one. They do come in handy for weeding.

With August here it’s time to start thinking of what to plant next for the cooler weather-maybe another round of peas, kale, lettuce or winter squash. So many possibilities and so little space!
