🚨 FIREWORKS ENFORCEMENT OPERATION 🚨
June 22 – July 4, 2026

🔥 Stage 1 Fire Ban in Effect - Right now, all fireworks are illegal to use in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

To help keep our communities safe during the Independence Day holiday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office will conduct enhanced fireworks enforcement operations.

✔ Extra deputies will be deployed before and during the holiday.
✔ Illegal fireworks violations will be enforced when probable cause exists.
✔ Illegal fireworks will be seized and confiscated as required by Colorado law.
✔ Citations may be issued for fireworks violations.

Illegal fireworks have consistently resulted in numerous calls for service and can pose serious safety risks.

Help protect your neighbors, first responders, and our community by following all fireworks laws and restrictions.

Deployment announcement-
On June 12th Byers Fire Rescue got a resource order to the South Fork Fire in Nebraska.
Fire size is estimated at 23,112 acres.
Sable brush 48 along with Byers brush 736 will spend 2 weeks assisting in fire suppression efforts.

TIMING...From noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening.

* WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, strongest near the Wyoming border.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 11 percent.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread in areas that have not received significant recent precipitation. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire.

No open burning of any kind without a permit from your fire district.

Why it matters:
Dry conditions, high winds, and warm temperatures can turn even a small spark into a dangerous wildfire.
This ban helps protect lives, homes, and our first responders.

This week, members from Byers Fire Protection District and Strasburg Fire Protection District trained together on Firefighter Rescue and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations.

Training focused on firefighter survival, MAYDAY procedures, downed firefighter removal techniques, and coordinated rescue operations under stressful and realistic conditions. These evolutions help ensure our crews are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when one of our own is in need.

Strong partnerships and continuous training are critical to maintaining safe and effective operations on the fireground. We appreciate the opportunity to train alongside Strasburg Fire and continue strengthening our teamwork, communication, and operational readiness.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in defense of them.

From all of us at Byers Fire Protection District #9, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.
