FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC OR PARAMEDIC
This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive combination fire department serving the Byers community while gaining valuable experience, expanding your skills, and continuing to advance your career in the fire service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess, or be eligible to obtain as applicable:
• Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment EMT-Paramedic certification, NREMT-Paramedic, or be eligible for Colorado reciprocity
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• CDFPC Firefighter I certification OR the ability to attend and successfully complete a fire academy*
• CDFPC Hazardous Materials Operations level certification
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800
• Valid driver's license
*Applicants who do not currently possess Firefighter I certification may still be considered for the Paramedic position with the ability to attend a future fire academy.

Congratulations, East Metro Fire Academy Class 20!

Yesterday was more than completing an academy. It was about recognizing everything it took to get you here—the long days, early mornings, sore muscles, frustration, exhaustion, and moments when you probably questioned why you signed up for this in the first place.

Throughout this academy, you were challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally. You were pushed outside of your comfort zones, expected to learn from your mistakes, and asked to keep going even when you were tired. And you did.

You showed hard work. You showed dedication. You showed strength. And most importantly, you showed that you could rely on one another. There were days when things didn't go as planned. There were evolutions you had to do again and again until you got them right. There were moments when one person struggled and the rest of the class had to step up. That's the fire service. You quickly learned that success isn't about being the strongest or fastest individual—it's about becoming a team that refuses to leave anyone behind.

Be proud of what you've accomplished, but remember that graduating from the academy doesn't mean you're finished learning. It means you've earned the opportunity to start.

Take everything your instructors have taught you and continue building on it. Stay humble. Ask questions. Train hard. Take care of your crew. Take care of your community. And never become so comfortable that you stop trying to become a better firefighter.

There will come a day when you're the experienced firefighter standing beside a brand-new recruit who's nervous, struggling, or questioning whether they belong. Remember what it felt like to stand where you are today. Be the firefighter who teaches them, encourages them, challenges them, and helps them succeed.

Every bruise, every bead of sweat, every failure you learned from, and every challenge you overcame brought you to this moment.
Your instructors, departments, families, and everyone who supported you throughout this journey should be incredibly proud—but most importantly, you should be proud of yourselves.

Congratulations, East Metro Fire Academy Class 20.
Stay hungry. Stay humble. Take care of each other.

On behalf of everyone at Byers Fire Protection District #9, we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible community for coming out and supporting our Annual Spaghetti Dinner!

We were absolutely blown away by the turnout this year. With over 300 people joining us for dinner, we set a new attendance record! Seeing so many friends, families, neighbors, and supporters gathered together made the evening truly special. Spending time with the community we proudly serve is one of the best parts of what we do.

A very special THANK YOU goes out to Byers General Store for generously sponsoring this year's spaghetti dinner. Your support helped make this event possible, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued commitment to our department and our community.

We would also like to give a huge shout-out to Colorado's fast-rising country star, Joe Wren, for taking the time to stop by and perform for everyone. Your music added something truly special to the evening, and we appreciate you sharing your talent with our community!

To everyone who purchased a meal, volunteered your time, donated, visited with our firefighters, or simply came out to spend the evening with us—thank you. Your continued support means more than words can express. Events like these remind us just how fortunate we are to serve such an amazing community.

Our department wouldn't be what it is without the incredible people who stand behind us year after year. Your support allows us to continue serving, training, and protecting the residents of Byers and the surrounding communities.

🚒 Support Your Byers Fire Protection District—Help Us Train!

Have you ever wanted to support your local fire department but weren't sure how? Here's a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the training of your firefighters!

Byers Fire Protection District is currently looking for homes, garages, barns, commercial buildings, and other structures that may be available for firefighter training exercises. These hands-on trainings allow our firefighters to build and maintain the critical skills needed to better protect our community when real emergencies happen.

Training may include:
🔥 360° scene size-ups
🚒 Deploying hose lines for structure protection
🪜 Ladder operations and roof access
🏠 Building familiarization and tactical planning
