This week, members from Byers Fire Protection District and Strasburg Fire Protection District trained together on Firefighter Rescue and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations.

Training focused on firefighter survival, MAYDAY procedures, downed firefighter removal techniques, and coordinated rescue operations under stressful and realistic conditions. These evolutions help ensure our crews are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when one of our own is in need.

Strong partnerships and continuous training are critical to maintaining safe and effective operations on the fireground. We appreciate the opportunity to train alongside Strasburg Fire and continue strengthening our teamwork, communication, and operational readiness.

Train hard. Stay ready.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in defense of them.

From all of us at Byers Fire Protection District #9, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

Due to the recent moisture across Arapahoe County and improved fire conditions, the burn ban has been lifted effective immediately.

While conditions have improved, residents are still encouraged to use caution with any outdoor burning activities and always follow local regulations and safety guidelines. Weather and fire conditions can change quickly in Colorado, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our community safe.

Today Byers Fire put together an SCBA confidence maze. Full bunker gear on air our firefighters had to force doors, crawl through a wire box, wiggle through a confined space, change out cylinders when out of air and rescue a down firefighter. οΏΌ
