Timothy Bentley for Alderman Ward 5 Byram

Timothy Bentley for Alderman Ward 5 Byram My name is Tim Bentley, and I am running for Alderman of Ward 5 in the June 5, 2029, General Election for Byram.

Hello, I’m Timothy Bentley, and I’m running for Byram City Council - Ward 5. As a dedicated small business owner and an independent non-partisan candidate, I am passionate about our community’s growth and well-being.

# My Focus

# # Issue #1: Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements

Protecting our neighborhoods from flooding and fixing our roads to prevent damage to our vehicles is a priority. Ad

dressing aging infrastructure in residential areas is crucial for our community's safety and longevity.

# # Issue #2: Law and Order

Our Byram police department needs more financial support to protect our growing community. Supporting law enforcement agencies and providing necessary resources for public safety are essential for maintaining order and security.

# # Issue #3: Parks and Recreation

I support the development of more parks and green spaces for our current and future residents to enjoy and make memories with their families. We must continue our investments in our parks and our city landmark, The Swinging Bridge.

# My Career

My career has been enriched by my leadership, communication, and team-building skills. I have over 30+ years of Management experience in the Jewelry and Telecommunication industries and am a proud small business owner. As the coordinator of the annual Swinging Bridge Festival for 14 years, I have fostered community spirit and engagement. My achievements include serving as the former President and Board Member of the Byram Chamber of Commerce and currently being a board member and former Vice President of the Lake Ridgelea Property Owners Association. I am a community leader, always volunteering and promoting the City of Byram, including my fellow citizens of Ward 5.

# A Fun and Personal Aspect

I am a passionate New Orleans Saints fan whose love for the team is matched only by my enthusiasm for travel. Born and raised in Pensacola, my dedication to the Saints began after Hurricane Katrina, when I attended the first home game back in the Superdome with family and friends. My travels have taken me to numerous destinations around the world, but I always make time to attend Saints games, whether at home in the Superdome or on the road. My favorite travel memories include tailgating with fellow fans, exploring the rich culture and cuisine of New Orleans, and cheering on my team in various NFL stadiums. When I’m not traveling or supporting the Saints, I enjoy sharing my adventures on social media, where I connect with other fans and travelers. My journey is a testament to my belief that the love of football and the joy of exploration can bring people together, no matter where they are in the world, which reflects my personality and commitment to our community's betterment.

Extreme Winter Weather Is Here.
Are You Prepared?

How Can You Help Reduce Theses Risk?

Maintain Heat: Keep your thermostat set to at least 55°F, even if the building is unoccupied.
Insulate Vulnerable Pipes: Focus on areas with exterior walls, crawlspaces, and attics.

Open Cabinet Doors: Allow warmer air to circulate around plumbing under sinks.

Leave a Facet Drip to Prevent Freezing: During extreme cold, keep a small stream of water running from at least one faucet—preferably the one farthest from the water main. This helps relieve pressure in the pipes and reduces the risk of freezing or bursting.

Know Your Shut‑Off Valve: Know where the main water shut‑off is located and how to access it quickly.

Check Your Backup Power Sources: Power outages during extreme cold can accelerate freezing and create additional opportunities for crime. Ensure generators and battery backup systems are tested and fully operational.

🎉 Great News about the Byram Blessing Box!

While helping with the Keep Byram Beautiful cleanup at City Hall, I noticed the blessing box—originally put in years ago by our Girl Scouts—was in rough shape and almost empty.

I spoke with the Mayor, who mentioned it was slated for replacement.

I'm so happy to see Walmart stepped up to replace it! It looks brand new and is already stocked up!

Remember: If you are hungry and need something, please take what you need. If you have extra, please consider donating.

A huge Thank You to the original Girl Scouts for starting this wonderful initiative, to Fire Chief Horton, and to everyone involved in getting this essential community resource updated!

Remembering a Man of Faith and Service David Moore

I have deeply admired him for his integrity and honor as a man, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and, most notably, as a dedicated Minister of the Gospel. He fulfilled his biblical role with such unwavering dedication, and his family meant the absolute world to him.
For those in the Byram community, he also served with the same commitment as a former Alderman

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 is a day that forever changed our nation.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families who still carry the weight of that day.

We honor the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who showed extraordinary courage and unity in the face of tragedy.

May we never forget 9/11.
