SSI Recipients Are Eligible for Discounted Internet Service Through the Lifeline Program.

This federal initiative is designed to make phone and internet services more affordable for low-income households, ensuring that more individuals have the connectivity needed to access important resources and services online. Eligible consumers can receive a monthly discount of up to $9.25. Consumers living on Tribal lands are eligible for an enhanced discount of up to $34.25 per month, making it even easier to stay connected and access essential services.

Individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Medicaid, and other Federal Assistance programs, as well as households with income of 135 percent or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible.

WINTER IS COMING.

According to the national weather service forecasts, a Winter Storm is coming this Saturday evening and Sunday. NOW is the time to get ahead of this!

Conditions will begin to decline Friday night and into Saturday. There is potential for impacts from freezing rain and sleet. Power outages from downed trees and powers lines are possible, and travel will be dangerous on roads and bridges. However, our Public Works Department is sitting on ready.

For the vulnerable that is without heating, our Fire Department has a safe room.

Stay off frozen roads and do not leave home during dangerous road conditions. Leave roadways clear for emergency personnel and first responders.

CITY-WIDE BURN BAN: A message from the Fire Chief

I am issuing a citywide burn ban effective immediately until further notice. We are under extremely dry conditions that have led to numerous brush fires around our area over the last several days. The burn ban will be lifted after we receive substantial rainfall.
