Captain Schaffer and I delivered a huge load of school supplies to the Northwest School District today. These supplies will be distributed by the school district to kids who need them. We want to thank everyone who donated these supplies as well as those who provided money for the school lunch program. Our partners in this drive were the Point of Refuge Church, SpiritWord Church, and Spring Hills Church.

FYI The road surfacing was completed today. Chief Frank

There will be road surfacing work this coming Monday and Tuesday on Lower Byrnes Mill Road between the Byrnes Mill Farms mobile home community and Echo Lake subdivision. Expect single side lane closures with flag men to help keep traffic moving. The school district has been made aware of the situation. I just received this information late yesterday. Please use caution when driving in this area. Thanks. Chief Frank

At our Board of Alderpersons meeting last night we recognized Phil Barnowski with a Community Appreciation Award. Phil most likely saved the life of an autistic child who had wandered away from home and was getting ready to try and cross Highway 30 early one morning. Phil stopped the child and stayed with him until our officers could respond. We are more successful at our job when the community helps. Chief Frank.

Captain Steve and Sgt. Cody competed in the Special Olympics Guardian Games with our Aldermen Toby Mueth, our friends Phil Barnowski and Tony Glover (from American Muscle), and Special Olympic Athlete Dakota. These games bring our Police Department, Special Olympians, and community together as they compete against other teams sponsored by other departments. Several of these other departments have hundreds of officers compared to our 10 officers. Our team took 3rd place this year. We are proud to support the Special Olympics of Missouri. Chief Frank

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is a Missouri Tax Free Weekend. During this three-day event, state and local sales taxes are waived on qualifying retail purchases including school supplies. I'm asking you to help support our School Supply Drive and pick up some extra school supply items to help the kids in our Northwest School District. See the below flyer for needed items.
Thank you, Chief Frank

Your Byrnes Mill Police Department is teaming up with the Spring Hills Church, the SpiritWord Church, and the Point of Refuge Church to once again sponsor our annual School Supply Drive. Please help make a difference for our kids by providing school supplies mentioned below or by making a monetary donation to help kids have a healthy lunch that would not otherwise be able to afford one. See the flyer for more information. Thanks, Chief Frank

Early this morning we had white Cadillac driving in one of our subdivisions. Cameras show that someone gets out of the vehicle and goes onto driveways where they attempt to open car doors. At this time we don’t think any vehicles were entered. But I would like to remind everyone to please lock your vehicle doors, keep valuables out of sight, and park in well lit areas if possible. Report any suspicious activity. Thanks. Chief Frank

With the 4th of July coming soon I wanted to remind every one of the Byrnes Mill Ordinance pertaining to fireworks. You can discharge fireworks between July 1st and July 5th from noon to 10 PM. Only those 18 and older can possess or discharge them. I have seen many horrible injuries over the years involving fireworks. Please use extreme caution and be safe as we celebrate the 250th birthday of our great country. Chief Frank

The Captain David Dorn Foundation gifted our officers with Guardian Angel lights today. These lights are worn on the officers uniform to better illuminate them while conducting investigations and traffic, especially at night. The Dorn Foundation helps officers from smaller police departments with equipment that they normally wouldn’t be able to afford. Thanks for keeping our officers safe. Chief Frank.
