Join the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) and City of Rochester, MN Police Department (RPD) as we celebrate Night to Unite, a community-building event that coincides with National Night Out.

Millions of people across the country will come together on Tuesday, August 4, to promote neighborhood unity and police-community partnerships in pursuit of safer communities.

Neighbors are encouraged to organize gatherings and register them at RochOlmstedUnite.com by Tuesday, July 28. Law enforcement officers from RPD or OCSO will visit as many neighborhood celebrations as possible. Other first responders, including the Rochester Fire Department, will also be visiting neighborhoods.

Police Chief Jim Franklin shares, “Building a safer community starts with knowing your neighbors. Night to Unite is a prime opportunity to come together and strengthen our connections in support of a safer Rochester.”

Kevin Torgerson, Olmsted County Sheriff, adds, "The goals of Night to Unite and our Sheriff's Office mission statement are intertwined, to promote and protect the well-being, safety, and security of all people in our community. We look forward to joining with our friends and neighbors again this year to work towards those common goals here in Olmsted County. We will see you in your neighborhood on August 4!"

Night to Unite is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August.

How long will PT actually take? It’s one of the most common questions we get — and the honest answer is: it depends. But here’s a general breakdown to help set expectations. 📊

⚡ Acute injury (sprains, strains, sudden pain) → 4–8 sessions
🏥 Post-surgical rehab → 12–24 sessions
🔄 Chronic pain → 8–16 sessions
The good news? Most people feel significant improvement within 6–12 sessions — and every plan we create is completely personalized to you. Your history, your goals, your body.
We don’t do cookie-cutter care. We do plans that actually work.

📬 DM us with your situation and we’ll give you a realistic idea of what to expect — no commitment required.

🚑 🩺Every first responder has a story about what brought them to a life of service, but some journeys are especially inspiring. Nicole Sandberg took a leap of faith to pursue a career centered on helping others and has never looked back. 🩺🚑

❤️ What inspired you to become a first responder?

"I had an opportunity a few years ago to make a career change. I reflected on what makes me happiest at work and if I could make a difference what would I do. I had wanted to get into healthcare for a long time and helping others made me happiest at work. So, I got my EMT license, became a First Responder and changed careers from corporate to working for a non-profit organization. It’s been an amazing journey!"

🌳 What keeps you grounded when you are not responding to calls?

"I love going kayaking with my husband!"

❤️ Can you share a memorable or rewarding moment that reminded you why you love being a first responder?

"I treated a child with a disability. The patient’s mother filled out the survey after receiving care at the emergency department regarding how happy she was with how I interacted with her child. Being able to treat all populations and hearing the impact you have on their lives makes my heart happy."

📜 What piece of advice has stuck with you the most throughout your career in EMS?

"Look at your patient. Treat the patient, not just the monitor."

🦺 If you could give our neighbors just one vital safety tip today, what would it be?

"Wear a helmet! I have seen enough incidents to know…yes, it does make a difference."

🧒 What did you want to be when you were growing up, and does your current life or career look anything like that childhood dream?

"Not at all. I wanted to tour with Janet Jackson as a dancer or be a scientist that studied gorillas and taught them sign language."

💼 🚑From life-changing career decisions to life-saving patient care, Nicole's story reminds us that sometimes the greatest impact and satisfaction comes from unexpected decisions. Nicole's commitment to treating every patient with dignity, compassion, and respect reflects the very best of our first responder community. We are grateful for Nicole's dedication and proud to have her serving our neighbors. If you see Nicole around town, be sure to thank her for everything she does to help keep our community safe. ❤️
