MORE BACK TO SCHOOL: August is just a busy but exciting time of the year. We may be more excited then these two, but FFs Judges and Palmgren loaded up their backpacks yesterday for their first day of Paramedic School!!! This year long program with Mercy Health is going to test them but a year from now they’ll be graduating and ready to challenge the National Registry. If you see them out and about, wish them well on this journey.

NEW APPARATUS: This morning we completed the final inspection of our new rescue engine at Toyne in Breda, Iowa with Dinges Fire Company. This vehicle will be a dual purpose apparatus having both a rescue and fire suppression role, allowing us to consolidate apparatus. We can’t thank the Byron community and our Board of Trustees enough for always supporting our mission of public safety. Stay tune for more of Engine 401!!!

We are excited to have our cadet program thriving and can’t wait to watch these two grow in the fire service. They don’t know it yet but they’re apart of something bigger than themselves and the best job in the world!!!

**New Certifications**

Recently FF Politsch had met the requirements and earned his BOF certification, but that wasn't good enough. He has now earned his Fire Service Vehicle Operator and Advanced Technician Firefighter!!! With recent rule changes in the state, IFSI is teaching Advanced Technician Firefighter in the BOF academy. This allows students the opportunity to further their education earlier in their careers. Way to go Kade!!!

**New Certifications**

Congrats to FF Kade Politsch, as of today he is officially certified by the Illinois OSFM as a Basic Operations Firefighter, along with holding Hazardous Materials Operations. Kade recently graduated from the IFSI Fire Academy held in Cherry Valley. Kade is a recent graduate of Byron High School and a product of our Cadet program. Next stop is Rock Valley College to obtain his EMT and complete his degree in Fire Science.
