Volunteer help needed at the library
Friday, June 26th 10:00 a.m. to noon

The library has a collection of used books that have been stored in the basement of the UCC Church.

I was notified late this afternoon that part of this collection of books has taken on some water damage.

I'm asking for anyone who is willing to do a little bit of heavy lifting and cleaning up to help us out with moving the boxes of books that are salvageable and possibly cleaning up a few items that have been damaged and will need to be disposed of.

I will provide any kind of garbage bags needed. If you come, please dress appropriately - there may still be some wet spots on the basement floor.

Meet me at the library at 10:00 a.m. if you're able to help. Many hands will make light work.

Wonderful news!

The library has a copy of Ann Patchett's latest book, The Whistler, that is circulating now. There is currently a wait time, but if you're willing to wait you can get on the hold list and when your turn comes, check it out with your library card!

NEWS: The Library of Congress has announced that the 2026 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction will be awarded to Ann Patchett at the National Book Festival on Aug. 22.

The annual Prize for American Fiction, one of the Library’s most prestigious awards, honors an American literary writer whose body of work is distinguished by its mastery of the art, as well as its originality of thought and imagination.

“The Library of Congress is one of our nation’s noblest institutions, and it’s full of librarians, who I consider to be the very noblest of people. I am grateful for this award and honored by the association,” said Patchett.

“Ann Patchett crafts moving, probing, tender novels. She has a talent for creating fiction that readers continually devour because she thinks deeply and writes evocatively about human connection,” said Acting Librarian of Congress Robert R. Newlen. “I am thrilled that she is the 2026 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction recipient.”

The library will be there with used books and puzzles for free will donation.
