Exciting news to share regarding traffic in Cabot!

Yesterday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation released a video featuring Mayor Kincade and discussed the Highway 5/Interstate 57 interchange (Exit 16).

As everyone knows Exit 16 and Exit 19 especially during peak hours cause significant traffic delays.

We are thrilled to announce that work on Exit 16 began on May 11th and an official groundbreaking will be held tomorrow. The hope is we will have another announcement on Exit 19 later in the year.

The video below is 3:00 minutes long and we encourage you to watch it in it's entirety. Instead of multiple lights and unnecessary congestion points, this entire area will move to a SPUI (single point urban interchange). This has proven be a successful alternative in other cities and states for exits similar to Cabot.

In this video you will see comments from the Mayor, ARDOT and a preliminary drawing and video of what this all looks like.

As Mayor Kincade states in the video, progress is painful sometimes. This project is slated to be complete in April of 2028. During this time, there will be updates periodically, traffic changes, and other disruptions.

The City appreciates your patience through the process and please be patient and look forward to the end result. This is one more piece to help move Cabot forward. Thanks!

All downtown City Of Cabot railroad crossings are blocked and may be closed for a significant amount of time according to Union Pacific. The Cabot Police Department responded to a report that a pedestrian could have been struck by a train. Please be patient and consider alternate routes while we investigate and confirm the circumstances reported.
