Foster Closet of Michigan Wexford-Missaukee The Foster Closet is an all volunteer 501 c 3, tax-exempt, non-profit organization providing aid to children in foster care, guardianship or kinship care.

Ran 100% by nonpaid volunteers to provide these 100% donated items for free to these children. What We Do! Foster Parents, grandparents, guardians, kinships can be unprepared for a newly placed child in terms of having the right size or quantity of clothing and equipment required for a particular child. Often children arrive in their new foster home with only the clothes on their back. This freque

ntly places a financial hardship on the Foster Family to provide for the immediate clothing needs of children.

Tomorrow is the big day for our foster/adoptive families! Thank you to everyone that has given and/or prayed. We have about 100 kids in care signed up, that receive new shoes, underwear, socks, backpack, school supplies, hygiene products and 3 outfits. We could not do this without our supporters!

Last year some of our friends at the Jack Frost Closet - a ministry of First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac- said their church congregation wanted to help us with shoes for our back to school event and this year they DID IT AGAIN. We could not do what we do without the generosity of the local churches and community. We are so blessed!! Thank you First Presbyterian Church!

We have our back to school event coming up August 15th- we will be serving over 100 kids and their foster families and we will have lots of volunteers helping us do that all day. Would you- or your church, business, community group- like to help feed our crew? We could use lunch, easy snacks and drinks for approximately 25 people. If you would be interested send us a mesage- we would love to chat with you!! As always thank you for helping us serve the kids in foster care in our community!

Last 2 days to sign up for back to school to guarantee new shoes! We have fabulous friends at local churches who personally buy shoes for each kid that is pre registered by June 27th (so that they have time to shop and return those shoes to us by our event August 15th).

We are now accepting registrations (until June 27th) for our back to school event. We provide NEW backpacks, sneakers, toiletries, underwear and socks and school supplies for all school aged kids in "out of home" placements ( such as foster care, adoption, kinship, or guardianship situations) as well as an opportunity for the kids to "shop the closet" and pick out a few "new to them" outfits. We will make you an appointment for August 15th at the Cadillac First Church of the Nazarene ministry center- please plan to bring the children with you that day so they can pick out what they like. Message us with any questions!

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 25th the Foster Closet will be open for summer clothes, from 10:00 am-noon. We have sizes 0-3 months boys through 3x men’s. Girls we have a lot from 0-3 months-5, limited amount on sizes 6-2x. Pictures in comments
