Ranger Justin welcomed campers to Wm. Mitchell State Park with help from a special friend. They want to remind everyone about tomorrow's special event: Cadillac West- Classics on the Canal! We can't wait to see the vintage trailers, cars, hand-carved wooden lures, and boats! And don't forget about that amazing performance from Delilah Dewylde!!! See you there!

Have mobility issues? Explore with our track chair -- it's FREE!

Unleash your sense of adventure with our off-road, electronic track chairs! Did you know over 30 state parks have a track chair available for free use? Wm. Mitchell State Park's track chair can be used along the day-use area, campground, and the Heritage Nature Trail (once it dries from the flood). A list of all parks with track chairs and directions to make a reservation appear at the link below. Chairs also have a fishing arm attachment and can even be used on our archery range!

How to reserve:
Send us a message here, email [email protected] to make an advance reservation (24-hour notice is preferred).

Availability:
January through Memorial Day: Saturdays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Memorial Day through
Labor Day: Daily; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Labor Day through Nov. 14: Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Due to battery life, the chair can only be reserved in three-hour blocks.

The track chair is located at the Carl T Johnson Hunting & Fishing Center, 6087 E M-115, Cadillac, MI 49601.

These are store hours for the gift shop at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center through June 30. July and August hours may be reduced due to lack of volunteers.

We need volunteer sales staff in our gift shop in the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center. No long term commitment. We use Sign Up Genius so just sign up when available. Two shifts a day 10:30-1:30 and 1:30-4:30. If interested message me on this page with contact info.

As you observe your Memorial Weekend holiday, consider stopping by our visitor center for some free family programming! Campers can walk over, using the tunnel under the bridge, which keeps feet safely off M-115. If you're not camping and would like to join, parking is available at the Wm. Mitchell State Park Day Use area, or in front of our building at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting & Fishing Center. Paper copies of this schedule, along with all the details, are available at our visitor center! Come join the fun! The Gift Shop is open from 10:30-4:30!
